Last week purchasing a $500 gift card triggered the discount three times for $30, unsure if that will be the case this week as well.

It sounds like it’s for one gift card only and the golden opportunity here is if you want to have a $200+ gift card vs. only $200s from Staples and Office Depot weekly deals. If I could get a $500 gift card, I’d save it for an online purchase that’s over $200 where you can’t input multiple gift cards.
Another hack is the $10 discount deal might work in the Hy-Vee Fresh and Save gas stations since usually gift card deals for Hy-Vee applies to their gas stations. It works for fuel saver specials. This is for those that rather purchase with Chase Freedoms to earn 5x from gas station vs. Discover 5% from grocery store this quarter. I’m sure gift card and credit card limitations will vary between Hy-Vee gas stations just like the grocery stores.
Finally, do you earn Hy-Vee Fuel Saver points from purchasing Visa or Mastercard gift cards? Normally it’s $0.20 Fuel Savers per $100 gift card purchase (non Hy-Vee brand).

Yup. I loaded the boat with them. I think it was also ’23 right before Thanksgiving.
You missed out. The first two cards I bought were with a CC. After that I just cycled all the gift cards over and over. Sometimes they had Fuel Saver on certain ones as well.
I think in 2017 or 2018 the discount was even crazier with the old formula ($10 off $100 stacked).
I wasn’t getting 5%, but my store was manually overriding the Fuel Perks on the Visa Cards for a while. Drove for free all summer

The HyVee closest to me would not allow a purchase with a credit card. Anyone else have this problem? It would have been nice to grab the $500 card using the Discover 5% quarterly bonus.

No sign at my store, but $10 discount auto applied when the card rang up. $500 VGC still only $10 discount. We miss you, crazy HyVee deals of years past!
