The Offer
- Hyatt is currently offering a 90 day status match for American Airline elites and a challenge to keep status until 2/28/26
- AAdvantage elites: Stay 10 nights at Hyatt hotels within 90 days of registration and keep Explorist status
- AAdvantage Platinum Pro & Higher: Stay 20 nights at Hyatt hotels within 90 days of registration and keep Globalist status
Our Verdict
Paid and award stays both work. Wouldn’t recommend signing up until you know you can satisfy the night requirement OR you need the elite status for an upcoming stay. It looks like there is also the reverse available (e.g Hyatt elites get status with American Airlines).
Hat tip to Dans Deals
Earlier this week I stayed my 20th night after registering and checked my account today and my Globalist Status now says good until Feb 28, 2026 instead of Feb 28, 2025.
This promo was great timing for me as I had an opportunity for a long stay at a Hyatt Place.
woot Woot WOOT !!!
Woot! Well done. You won. You beat the credit game. Enjoy that club access or complimentary breakfast. You earned it.
Congrats! I did it too, only at a lesser level. I’m Explorist through Feb 28, 2026.
I just did it. Online in my account it says this:
“Your current status and benefits
You have Instant AAdvantage Platinum® status and its benefits to enjoy through Dec 16, 2024.”
But I don’t see any change when I print the card, or in my iPhone wallet.
It finally shows. It took a little bit. Where in this dreadful app or website can I print the loyalty card?
If anybody needs this info: If you go to the AA app click on the top with your name and status, then pull the page up and you will see a tab for “view AAdvantage card” and there it is, with bar code and all
Where are you getting the Globalist 20 night language? When I login (I’m AA Exec Plat), I only see the Explorist 10 night language
Same thing happened last year, but still got globalist.
When I login to my Hyatt account from the link above I see the following as item 3 under the “HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:” header:
3) Stay 20 qualifying nights within 90 days of registration to earn Globalist status through February 2026.

I am currently an AA ExPlat and Hyatt Globalist, so maybe what you see is dependent on what your current status is at AA and/or Hyatt.
I am Exec Plat and was Hyatt Discoverist (through the Chase card); after I registered for the status match, it gave me one category up, Explorist. Meh.
Does anyone know if it’s possible to match United 1K to American, and then American to Hyatt through this status match? I assume it would be, but there could be a clause that you can’t match another status match.
My guess is no. You need to have your Hyatt and AA accounts linked in order to qualify to participate in this Hyatt reduced nights status match. My assumption is that if you have an AA status that is a “challenge status” instead of an “earned status” you will not be eligible for this Hyatt reduced nights status challenge.
I’ve already tried through United Premier Platinum when I got the United match through another status. This was their response:
“Thank you for your e-mail. We received your documents but are unable to verify your earned status based on the documents provided. To be approved for a status match, the current status must be earned by the other airlines annual qualifications.
Status granted by an exception, Million Miler status, a challenge, a promotion or with an abbreviated qualification, does not qualify for a status match.
According by your Premier Platinum you needed to earn at least 36 PQF and 12,000 PQP or 15,000 PQP.
If you would like to move forward with a paid Instant Status Pass™ please give us a call at 800-882-8880 (daily from 7:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. Central Time). Say “AAdvantage® Account Service” when prompted.
We look forward to sharing the details with you and helping you select the best AAdvantage® status for you!”
Do bookings have to be made direct or can you book stays through expedia/booking.com/etc. or a credit card travel portal? T&Cs don’t seem to explicitly state that you have to book directly with Hyatt.
Direct
After looking through the terms I see nothing excluding getting Globalist Status through this promotion until Feb 2026 when I am currently a Globalist. Therefore, I believe I can earn Globalist status for another year with 20 stays within 90 days of registration instead of 60 stays within a year. Am I reading this right?
FYI, I am an AA Exec Platinum so I qualify on those grounds.
Does somebody have the link to the reverse offer?
Last year I earned AA Exec Plat using their promotion for Hyatt members to earn AA status. I have not seen that promotion yet this year. It also may not happen again. See below.
NOTE: I called AA customer support about a systemwide upgrade that was revoked after being booked and the rep flat out said that their Loyalty Points scheme where you can spend to status resulted in so many people with status and systemwide upgrade certificates that they’re no longer guaranteed when booked. She gave it to me straight and actually said something along the lines of “We used our miles program to keep us in business during COVID and now we have too many elite members with perks and we can not handle the demand people have to use them.”
So…American is offering me free Plat for 4 months. Once I do that, then I should come back here and qualify in reverse with Hyatt to drop my required stays down to 10 in order to keep Explorist. Right?

They are already linked, have been for quite a while now. I guess we will find out. I should have enough stays in my travel window that is coming up soon, so I will try to be a data point. I don’t see why they wouldn’t do it.
You can’t, I just tried to activate the Hyatt Challenge while on the AA Challenge.
Before activating AA Platinum Pro, I could not register for the Hyatt challenge stating that I had no status. Once activating the AA status, I am now registered for the Hyatt challenge. I do have ~15 hyatt stays late August/early September. Will see how that goes.
Was your AA plat pro status also a challenge? Thank you for the dp. Please update after your stay!
I couldn’t at first because I think Hyatt didn’t see me as an AA Plat. I waited a day and then went back to the link and – success!!!

Is there a link for the reverse?

I’m ExPlt and Globalist this year and have been for over 5 years on both. But this year I will be one tier down on each. I did it by a lot of MSing in the past but the game is much tougher now so I will settle for lower tiers
But, if I could make this work both ways through these promos? Maybe……
it works, not from chrome, but with firefox
