Hyatt 90 Day Status Match For American Airline Elites + Challenge

Update 8/6/25: Back for 2025.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Hyatt is currently offering a 90 day status match for American Airline elites and a challenge to keep status until 2/28/27
    • AAdvantage elites: Stay 10 nights at Hyatt hotels within 90 days of registration and keep Explorist status
    • AAdvantage Platinum Pro & Higher: Stay 20 nights at Hyatt hotels within 90 days of registration and keep Globalist status

Our Verdict

Paid and award stays both work. Wouldn’t recommend signing up until you know you can satisfy the night requirement OR you need the elite status for an upcoming stay. It looks like there is also the reverse available (e.g Hyatt elites get status with American Airlines).

So the AA offer and Hyatt offer works in tandem with each other, I didn’t have status with AA so the Hyatt offer didn’t work at first. After activating the AA offer and waiting for the status change to reflect on my AA account the Hyatt offer worked.

As AA Gold (and Hyatt Discoverist), I see the option to “Stay 20 qualifying nights within 90 days of registration to earn Globalist status through February 28, 2027.”

Doesn’t seem restricted to Plat Pro or higher.

Same. Seems like a decent status challenge for those of us with AA Gold.

This is so confusing. I am a Globalist and got this offer:

As an AAdvantage® status holder, you’re eligible for instant World of Hyatt Explorist status for 90 days—just register to get started.

Enjoy the benefits of Explorist status like room upgrades, late checkout, and higher bonus point earning at Hyatt hotels and resorts worldwide. Enjoy all that elevated status and Hyatt hotels have to offer by completing qualifying stays within 90 days to keep your status through February 28, 2027.

Discover world-class comfort at Hyatt Regency, dive into local culture at Thompson Hotels, or strike the perfect work/life balance at Hyatt Place—all part of a global portfolio designed to match your travel style.

I got both offers. I am currently a Globalist and AA Platinum. Guess I got lucky.

I want an offer!

So as an AA EXP, I would get explorist (already have) for registering. And if I stay 20 nights, only then bump up to Globalist? If so, nice shortcut, but not what I first hoped.

I got the “reverse” offer via email, but it is also in the “promotions” section of the AA app and website when logged in to your AA account.

So if I’m a globalist, what status would I get with AA? And how much would I have to spend to keep that status going?

I am a Globalist and received AA Platinum Pro Status for 4 months.

To maintain status for the 4 months after that:
Gold with 13,000 Loyalty Points
Platinum with 25,000 Loyalty Points
Platinum Pro with 42,000 Loyalty Points
Executive Platinum with 67,000 Loyalty Points

combined with AA Travel, SimplyMiles and AA dining. Even a survey or 2 if you really need to just tippy top it off.
Now weather or not its worth it is an entirely different question

Pay for Qatar business class, long-haul, like USA-SE Asia, credit it to AA. Easy 40K LPs. Treat yo self, dawg!

AADvantage hotel portal often has the same price as buying direct from the hotel site and the AA loyalty points earned pretty high for some properties. Some brands do not honor you status benefits, so if that it’s important to you purchase your hotel stay direct from the hotel website but through the AADvantage shopping portal.

Also, the AADvantage shopping portal can have good points earning deals for big purchases. For example, Apple is often 4 points per dollar or buying no activation fee gift cards like AirBnB from giftcards.com.

I got the offer from AA in an email with subject “Enjoy complimentary AAdvantage Platinum Pro® status today”

Once I clicked the link it took me to the AA login page and the offer was under “promotions” in my AA account.

Might be worthwhile to login to your AA account and see if the offer is under promotions.
