Hyatt has announced a new brand called ‘Hyatt Studios‘. Hyatt describes it as the ‘first upper-midscale brand in the Americas’. Hyatt has signed letters of interest from developers for more than 100 new properties. Construction is expected to begin in 2023 with the first hotel to open in 2024.
I will say that signed letters of interest don’t mean a lot, so I’d be surprised if we ever see 100 properties actually open under this brand.
I will wait to try one in person in the future, but I welcome more Hyatt options, especially if they are focusing on smaller markets with no Hyatts.
The pics are very limited but look a lot like Hilton Home2Suites rooms but without the suite part or the hot free breakfast. So, maybe this is like a Home2Suites but a little nicer with convection oven? Convection ovens are awesome vs standard, so even if it is a microwave hybrid, I see this as an upgrade if you actually need to do some real cooking and roasting on a small scale.
Personally, I think the Home2Suites-style room has a place in the market where you want some kitchen features vs regular hotel room but dont need the more expensive & larger divided rooms like in a Hyatt House or a mini separate divided kitchen area. I actually like this concept and liked the Home2Suites room I tried (probably the best of the cheaper Hilton concepts), though the name is awkward.
In the end, I think Hyatt Studios will be a welcome additional option and widen the footprint.
Feels like a Hyatt place room with a small kitchen stuffed into it.
Any new properties are a welcome sight, especially in smaller markets. Many HP’s are old, dingy, smelly dumps.
So, no commoners allowed?
i like that it will be in smaller footprint markets
The room photo looks sparse, unappealing, and down-market, aside from the fridge and convection microwave. And no hot breakfast.
“Hyatt Studios hotels will appeal to the high-end guest within its segment” — Yet, only “grab and go” breakfast (microwave burritos, granola bars, etc).
For the discerning cheapskate. 🙂
Iagree… people do not like to feel like they are being nickle and dimed… Include the free breakfast, free parking and no added destination/daily bs fee…
I am a discerning cheapskate. 🙂
It would be nice to see the new brand focus on some smaller towns, as there are some states that don’t have a single Hyatt. It’s tough to be loyal to Hyatt with such a small footprint. Without the truly complementary breakfast, I’m not sure that I’d stay at the new brand over a Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express.
Hyatt need more Asia properties…
Hyatt Centric but in the burbs? Sounds highly profitable if they can get people to stay there. Probably a way to get around licensing contracts too. Tell the Hyatt house/place owners “you can either open one of these close to your current holding, or we can have someone else open it and you compete with it”
