Hyatt is switching booking systems and will use Sabre. The changeover will occur in 2024. This system will allow:
- Flexible calendar search – Guests searching for availability will have a more intuitive and efficient calendar view, including key dates when special promotions are available, as well as when World of Hyatt members can redeem their points for the highest value.
- Enhanced rooms and rates view – Hotels will be able to quickly synchronize reservation modifications, enabling guests and colleagues to access newly available rooms in real-time. Hotels will also be able to share dynamic packages allowing guests to individually customize aspects of their stay.
- Efficient booking – The platform is designed to simplify the booking process by unlocking the best rates for our guests through advance purchase rates and streamlining the processing for hotel colleagues.
There is some concern that switching booking systems will also allow Hyatt to introduce dynamic award pricing as it’s not currently possible with the booking system being used.
Hyatt tells me “the current Central Reservation System (CRS) does not factor in determining the number of points required for redemption and the new CRS, Sabre’s SynXis Central Reservation System, will not either. The number of points required for redemption is managed by another system and is not impacted by” the move to this new system.
Can you elaborate on “Hyatt tells me?” Insider, CS, a friend that works there, etc?
What they said is just double speak. It just says that neither system currently will determine points required. What you really need to know is if either system is CAPABLE of doing it. The current system is not, the new system is.
Sah-bray?
Any corporate/organization in general wont partner to revamp their existing systems unless there is a ROI expected. I am assuming Hyatt is not gaining anything with the current point redemption system and they want to consider dynamic pricing like others to boost up their revenue. This might be a big downgrade to Hyatt value.
Only good devalutation was Hyatt Kyoto this summer =D
Looks like good times are coming to an end.
If a devaluation is coming up in 2024, I’m glad I booked rooms at Hyatt for 30k / night in Hawaii this year. Normally, rooms go upwards of $1,000 / night before taxes and fees.
Well, for me the following quote screams dynamic pricing and devaluation
” as well as when World of Hyatt members can redeem their points for the highest value.”
Probable scenario: A Hyatt place that cost 8K today will be 30K on most days and there will be few days where its available for 8K. Sabre will ‘help’ you to find those few 8Ks ‘efficiently’. So, if the hotel averages $150 for a night, you will find that the value of your points is 0.5 cents per dollar on most days and 2.0 cents on those few days, where its value now is 2.0 cents everyday.
Nah, it’s boilerplate marketing language that means absolutely nothing.
Actual article doesn’t seem to imply that, not sure how such inference is being made here, panic unwarranted imo
You must be new to the points game
Hope it’s not true, but as we all know (or should know) by now, nothing in this game lasts forever.
If Hyatt goes to dynamic point system, I’ll surely FK THEM UP
