Hyatt is now allowing loyalty members to book suites online with points. Previously you needed to call in to book these suites. In June Hyatt added the ability to book premium suites with points via phone (previously only standard suites were available).

Interesting experience, the Hyatt website showed the points price for a suite redemption, but on the app, it showed “price confidential.”

Hyatt is basically the only hotel chain where you feel good that you got the better deal after redeeming with points.

Not necessarily true. I’m Hyatt globalist and IHG platinum. I recently like IHG better with variable pricing and was very lucky to book a big room with a hot tub for 12.5k pts on a Sunday!

Considering the math and buying IHG points easier, I got it for essentially for like $60
Cost: 12.5k
Welcome bonus: 500 pts and snack
10% back on old IHG card: 1250 points

Another time at a candlewood suites for 10k points, they gave me an upgrade to a one bedroom suite. Both the TVs in my room didn’t work and the manager and me ran around two other rooms to discover one tv in another room didn’t work in the living room but it worked in the bedroom. I was comp 3k by the sweet manager!

Agreed, they’re also basically the only one where you can actually get good value for your points by redeeming them at lower tier hotels (they have some really fantastic 5K/8K hotels.

That’s in addition to offering great value at high end hotels as well.

Agreed, a cat 1 or 2 Hyatt is usually much better than another other low to mid tier competitor property
