IHG has announced details of it’s rebranded loyalty program called ‘IHG One Rewards‘. In early June 2022 all of the new member benefits and milestone rewards will be available.

Milestone Rewards
IHG is introducing milestone rewards (very similar to Hyatt’s milestone rewards) where you get to pick rewards every ten nights starting at 20 nights. Once you reach a milestone you have 90 days to make your selection. The options are as follows:
- 2o nights. Choose one of the following:
- 5,000 bonus points
- 2 Food & Beverage Rewards
- 1 Confirmable Suite Upgrade
- 30 nights. Choose one of the following:
- 5,000 bonus points
- 2 Food & Beverage Rewards
- 40 nights. Choose two of the following:
- 10,000 bonus points
- 5 Food & Beverage Rewards
- 1 Confirmable Suite Upgrade (limit 1)
- 1 Annual Lounge Membership (limit 1)
- 50 nights. Choose one of the following:
- 10,000 bonus points
- 5 Food & Beverage Rewards
- 60 nights. Choose one of the following:
- 10,000 bonus points
- 5 Food & Beverage Rewards
- 70 nights. Choose two of the following:
- 10,000 bonus points
- 5 Food & Beverage Rewards
- 2 Confirmable Suite Upgrade (limit 1)
- 1 Annual Lounge Membership (limit 1)
- 80 nights. Choose one of the following:
- 10,000 bonus points
- 5 Food & Beverage Rewards
- 90 nights. Choose one of the following:
- 10,000 bonus points
- 5 Food & Beverage Rewards
- 100 nights. Choose one of the following:
- 10,000 bonus points
- 5 Food & Beverage Rewards
The food and beverage rewards (good for a $20 credit) and confirmable suite upgrades are valid for one year after being selected. Annual lounge membership is valid for the remaining calendar year and the following calendar year.
Our Verdict
Overall the changes are very positive, the main downside is that there is no longer the Spire Elite choice rewards (e.g 25,000 points) but that required 70+ nights anyway so the new milestone rewards more than makes up for that.
I saw the 25,000 pts annual bonus for Spire died yesterday, when does it normally renew? I did it last year end of year and haven’t seen it all of 2022
As far as I can see, $40k credit card spend would still get you diamond? But yes I do see you wouldn’t get any milestone rewards along the way. Does that seem right?
Correct.
The $40k spend to qualify for Diamond with the IHG Premier is also all-or-nothing; the points you get for spending on the card are not elite-qualifying points.
In other words, you cannot, say, spend $20k to earn 90k points and then earn the other 30k points needed to qualify with stays.
As a curious holder of the old IHG card as well, has anyone seen whether or not we will remain as “platinum elite” under the new system?
On the IHG One page there is a FAQ for Chase cardholders, addressing automatic status. Lists all the cards. For those of us with the Select card, we do keep Platinum status.
Tried searching yesterday for a place to use my free night (from the old long gone IHG card) very very little available for that under 40k level. Gave up, staying home this wknd.
Same. All weekend nights on places I go are more than 40k or blocked somehow. I am canceling it.
Surprisingly looks good; the Diamond perk of free breakfasts will help out a lot at non-HIX properties.
However, given the platinum/diamond perk of “reward night discounts”, I am wondering if a stealth point devaluation is coming (i.e. platinum/diamond people pay a rate similar to pre-devaluation while everyone pays more than previously.)
Do they count award nights or paid nights only for this? tried to search but no avail
Award nights also count.
If you receive the Platinum Elite status through IHG credit card, do you receive the Food & Beverage credit.
This is what I’ve been wondering. Does the card short-cut you into any benefits?
You can only get the milestone rewards after staying the required number of nights. Credit card status doesn’t count towards those nights.
for plat the benefit is drink/snack, aka the exact same it is today, so no change. breakfast is only for diamond which you have to quality for.
After 20 nights the return appears to diminish. Is there anywhere which details what lounge membership consists of? In my experience only ICS & a small handful of Kimptons have lounges available. In those cases Ambassador membership would also make a lot more sense.
