Our Verdict
Better than the $100 referral bonus offered earlier in the year. Assuming this is a soft pull it should be worth doing. This account also earns 3% APY on balances up to $5,000 when the requirements are met. Not that attractive with the low cap and rising rates elsewhere.

Just opened online in MI, had a lot of issues w/ the application and getting it funded, but finally got it to work. Chex approx 2/1, 7/6, 13/12, idk beyond that. Just was denied yet again opening online w/ Old National the day before, with a Chex score of 801 out of 899. So, go figure.
Any recent DPs on Chex? Approved with high count/denied with low/etc?
Declined in January 2024 due to Chex (lol/24) although they said they couldn’t verify my identity.
Is that just a nonsense reason CUs use to decline with less mess? I had one that declined recently, they said due to ID verification but they never asked me any verification questions. Not sure if the account opening people get lazy or what.
$250 bonus

Rather surprisingly the bonus paid out today.
Opened 12/16/22
Jan 2023 20 odd debit transactions mainly at gas pumps
2/1/23 $250 bonus.
The worst experience ever. Bonus did not post and CSRs are clueless or intentionally obtuse.
Opened August, A+ August, September. No bonus.
Chex sensitive. 19/24 chex. Applied online, was denied citing unable to verify. Went to branch to verify. Still was declined. Watch your chex carefully when going with credit unions. The only bank that is chex sensitive is Keybank afaik. Good luck everyone. Kind of bummed that I missed out on this one.
Data Point
(P1 & P2)
8/3/22 Opened online
8/4/22 $500 mobile check deposit
8/30/22 20 debit purchases completed (mostly Amazon loads)
9/1/22 $250 bonus posted to savings account
Both accounts were frozen when attempting to activate debit card. Had to go in branch to verify identity. Teller had to call fraud dept (lot of whispering) as we waited and waited. When I asked what the problem was the teller said it had something to do with our device. Other than that, a pretty easy quick bonus. P3 applied same day as P1 & P2 but was denied due to identity verification.
It’s that kind of shit I hate when dealing with banks. I was denied online. Didn’t try opening in branch.
Do you have high Chex?
Just wanted to add some datapoints.
July 4th- Applied and opened the same day.
July 14th- $400 transfer from ally savings to meet monthly e-deposit.
20 $0.50 amazon reloads throughout the month of July using the debit card.
Aug 1st- $250 bonus posted.
You only have to do it for a month, not 3 months consecutively.
do you know hard or soft pull?
