The Fine Print
- This offer is limited to new Sauk Valley Bank personal checking account customers only. Account must be opened by 12/31/2021. Use offer code DN200M21 when opening your new account to enroll in this offer.
- Open a new checking account with a minimum deposit amount of $500, set up and receive (2) qualifying direct deposits within (60) days of opening your account. A qualifying direct deposit is a direct deposit of regular monthly income – such as your salary, pension or Social Security benefits which are made by your employer or other payer – using account and routing numbers that you provide to them.
- After all requirements are met, earned bonus will be directly deposited into your new personal checking account within (60) days. The new personal checking account must be open, in good standing up to and including the date any earned bonus is paid in order to receive bonus.
- The value of this offer may constitute taxable income to you. Offer does not apply to second or multiple personal checking accounts. You are not eligible for this offer if you were/are an owner or co-owner of any Sauk Valley Bank personal checking account within the last twelve (12) months. Offer expires December 31, 2021, however Sauk Valley Bank may change or discontinue this offer at any time before this date without notice.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
This account has no monthly fees to worry about.
Early Account Termination Fee
Wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so unsure if there is any closing fee.
Our Verdict
Seems to be a small bank and only supposed to be for this specific branch. Actual offer is OK, but requiring two direct deposits is a bit annoying. Won’t add this to the best bank account bonuses until we know more.

Emailed the bank to ask if anyone from IL is eligible, or only restricted to people in Sauk Valley. Their reply says it is ‘for local individual only’.
DP719 Can confirm it’s a no go. I am in-state but out-of-footprint.
Thanks, mothman. Indeed, no go for me either.
Looks like OOS got shut down. Maybe if I were quicker. “Hello! Yes I apologize, I did hear more from my Manager about these situations, it is in fact only for Locals. I apologize for any misinformation I had given as I was also told incorrectly. In order to qualify for the promotion or be a customer it is required you are local. Thank you!”
Went through entire online app and nowhere to enter the promo code. What a joke. Not submitting the app until they make it clear how to ensure the promo gets applied
Txs. It is unclear to me where to input promo code. Weird.
What happened when you filled in your name, phone, email, and hit submit?
They will call you and talk about the bonus and products.
Nothing happened, probably because is the weekend. They might call me or email me on monday.
I was denied OOS. “You aren’t qualified to apply online” so basically go to a branch.
Let me know if they pull Chex
I’m not the best for that because they may have disqualified me before they formally ran the application due to my address.
I will report back after my next paper Chex report though if I remember.
That’s interesting; I’m OOS, and they asked me to upload a copy of my driver’s license and signature card (not sure where to find the latter). I realize they could reject me when they review the license, but apparently I got farther than you did
These small bank tend to make up their own rules at time. I thought the agent was blowing smoke, I will get a copy of my Chex report and see if she pulled my Chex.
Update: they declined because I was out of their service area (it was unclear whether that means all of IL and WI or just parts)
