Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
This account has no monthly fees to worry about.
Early Account Termination Fee
There is an early account termination fee of $25 if the account is closed within six months according to the fee schedule.
Our Verdict
Previously there was a bonus for $325. The advantage to this offer is that it can be opened online as well. Which offer you prefer will likely depend how close to a branch you live. We will add this to our list of the best bank account bonuses.

Data point: ACH from Capital One worked as DD for Byline Bank. Received my first $50 checking bonus. Thanks.
Mine is not working for checking bonus. ACH Push from Capital One arrived at Oct 7th, yet no bonus YTD.
Weird. You have met the other requirements, e.g. activated eStatements, correct?
I received all three bonus payments (Sept, Oct, Nov) with just the ACH from Capital One.
I decided to appeal to Byline’s sense of fairness, and it actually worked. Their reply:
“I have some good news! I was able to obtain an approval to post this months 50.00 promotional funds after the statement cycle ends. I know that working with SS is difficult and we want your experience with Byline to be the complete opposite. Please let me know if you have any questions and I’ll be glad to assist.”
Now I have to push my luck by appealing on behalf of my wife.
Go for it! I think they will do the same for your wife.
Received my first $50 savings bonus today.
Hoping to get Byline to make an exception in advance of actually losing the first $50 bonus, I emailed customer service. (They don’t have secure messaging or chat.) Their reply: “Your account was opened on 07/26/2021 and the promotion requires a min 1000.00 dollar direct deposit within the first two statement cycles to qualify for the first 50.00 credit. It seems that Social Security is stating that you will not be receiving a direct deposit until 10/12/2021, which puts you past the second statement cycle of 9/26/2021. Unfortunately you won’t qualify for the first 50.00, but will be able to qualify for the next two statement cycles, as long as your direct deposit is posted on 10/12/2021. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.” Trying to decide whether the time and energy to appeal is worth $100, as my wife is in the same boat.
Be sure to write down the account number when opening, I successfully opened both the checking & savings accounts online and the confirmation screens showed the account/routing numbers, but when I printed to PDF the account numbers were not included…I had to go into the branch to have them tell me because they are not displayed in online banking or on statements.
Good advice!
I wrote down the account numbers during account opening so it wasn’t an issue for me but you are absolutely correct, the full account numbers cannot be found online nor in statements.
I got this message when I applied. “Your application is being reviewed. We’ve received your information and should get back to you within 2 business days.” I have opened around 27 accounts in the past 12 months so we will see what happens.
Denied. Likely due to Chex
“For new customers”…does that mean if you ever had an account with them you’re not eligible? I had one back in 2019 when they had a bigger bonus.
P2 was denied (i think because of lots of accts were opened)
