Improved Site Search – Provide Feedback Here

Update 2/17/21: There has been some issues with the new site search, so we’ve turned it off for now and it will revert to the old search.

We’ve just made some changes to the site search there are a few improvements:

  • Search results should appear faster, the whole site should also load faster as a result
  • Will find results even when you’ve done a minor typo (e.g if you’re searching for Alaska airlines and search for Alasa by mistake it should still show up)

In the coming days if all goes well we will add:

  • Auto complete options when searching (e.g will show 5 posts when searching so you don’t necessarily need to go to the search results page).

Hey Doc for feedback maybe instead of having us bookmark for improved site feedback although this works you could slide the Home CC Bank Accounts Credit Scores Knowledge Base and Daily Deals bar up top to the left a little bit and Put Feedback next to Daily Deals in between the dark mode tab or right at the dark mode tab and then move the dark mode tab to the right of the search 🔎

I know you probably dont want it looking smushed together but It might help conversions for feedback because people will know where to go to give input

Other then that BRO YOU ARE THE GOAT 🐐 of Finance huge fan your site saved me out of a financial hell hole as a person with no mentors in person I appreciate it keep going Doc if you read these

Just noticed the search speed changed, are we are still back on old search? Not sure what the issues were, but it was a lot faster when you did your updates, phone and laptop. Right now it seems somewhere in between old and new in terms of speed. I didn’t see weedy old results bothering me post update.

William Charles Question: when a post is newly updated, why do I sometimes see the first few sentences from an older update? As an example, I currently see https://www.doctorofcredit.com/swagbucks-get-50-back-on-walmart-98-membership-fee/ on the home page, as it was updated last night. However, the blurb under the headline is from the January 26th update.

Were some pages removed? I was trying to search for a BMO Harris $350 bonus from late 2020, so I could review the requirements, but that now appears to be gone.

if you could include the original post date (and subsequent update date if applicable) on both the normal and “amp” site, that would be super. thanks for all you do.

Highly noticeable changes. I searched for “beer” yesterday for rebates and only 3-4 really old posts showed up. It’s much better now. But still not showing latest results like BlueMoon Light Sky at the top. Might be nice to have an option to sort by recent posts

I agree. Also, maybe sort be date descending order by default (most recent first)?

Hi! About comment search. Unfortunately it does not work for two characters. It is really important when you are searching “DD” (direct deposit) for example

Hello – would it be possible to put a filter on prices for the deals? I’m mostly interested in deals above $50. If you can add this filter, that’d be great!

Can you please please make search on mobile browser one-click like it used to before? I now have to do Menu -> Search, then search. It discourages search, I’m also a software engineer by training and we do our best to minimize the number of click on frequently used sections of pages.

Yes, that’s so much better. You can do it without sacrificing the new look and feel.

https://slickdeals.net/, https://www.offers.com/ and the old DoC site have one thing in common: a big search box on the landing page. That’s not by accident, it just makes a lot of sense.
