Priceline are making a number of improvements to their Priceline Rewards Visa card (and these are actual improvements). If you hold the Priceline credit card you should have received the following e-mail:
This is particularly interesting for those who have the old version of this card which earns 2x points on all purchases. This means it’ll effectively be a 2.2% cash back card on all purchases without an annual fee.
Even better is that your points can be applied to any purchase of $25 or more, rather than just travel purchases like the Barclaycard Arrival Plus. There is also fact you might be able to get even more than 2.2% cash back in value if you redeem against Priceline purchases, the downside obviously being that you’re locked into using Priceline.
Unfortunately this 2x version of the card is no longer available and the actual card that is available only offers 1x points on all purchases (although up to triple points on Priceline purchases), so it’s really not worth considering. It’s always great to see card improvements, I just wish they’d bring back the 2x everywhere card. Hopefully this change as well as the Discover it Miles card is signalling increased competition for cash back on all purchases credit cards, rather than just rotating categories or specific categories.

I’m still confident we will see a 5x everywhere card on NFC purchases for for purchases under $100 for the first six months sometime this year, but maybe I am just being delusional.
