Incomm/Vanilla Visa Gift Card Fee Increase From $5.95 to $7.95

Many have reported seeing Incomm roll out a change on the fee on their Visa and Mastercard gift cards from $5.95 to $7.95. This includes the prevalent Vanilla Visa gift card and others.

It’s been many years with the fee on Visa gift cards hold steady at either $4.95 or $5.95, and it’s sad to see this large price hike.

Over the last few days I’ve noticed Safeways in the greater Seattle area switched over from Secure Spend VGCs to Secure Spend MCGCs, with the fee hike.

I took a break from buying Vanilla gift card for the last two months. Have the fraud situation became worse? I still have 10% off grocery offer that I intend to use and load up on these gift cards.

I noticed the $7.95 fees in the Southern New Hampshire area as of today. At least it is still worthwhile for me to pick up the $500 denomination cards to make use of the Sears Shop Your Way groceries deals.

I don’t think I’ve been able to use the vanillagift.com website to activate or manage credit cards for nearly 6 months. Seems like they updated their generic error prompt stating that I have to be using a United States network with no VPN active. I know my network traffic hits a backbone in New York, so I suspect my IP Address is just flagged as one that shouldn’t be trusted.

The cards no longer can be managed online or need to be activated. All you can do online is check the balance and transactions.

Not sure that is entirely correct. I can activate/manage it if I go through vanillagift.com on a wireless network.

Still plenty of $4.95s at my local spot. Hopefully they have another box of them in the back.

hurry! They rep from Incomm will probably take them back and load new ones to the display. Cvs in my area (upstate NY/northern Ct) are still loaded with the 5.95 cards.

Fee increase is to cover added cost of CS phone calls when card gets turned down everywhere we try to use them.

This BS won’t stop until they’re held accountable. Please file your CFPB complaints.

Excited to see this fee increase go toward heightened card security (it won’t).
