The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • IHG is offering a free night certificate that can be used on a property costing up to 40,000 points per night when users sign up or renew their InterContinental Ambassador status. This costs $200 or 40,000 IHG points. To receive this free night the following requirements must be met:
    • Sign up or renew between July 30 and November 15, 2020 December 31, 2021
    • Complete one qualifying paid stay at an InterContinental, Kimpton, or Regent, by January 31, 2021

The Fine Print

  • Free night will post within 72 hours of check out of qualifying stay

Our Verdict

You can view the other Ambassador status benefits here. Personally I don’t think Ambassador status is worth it even with this bonus, but if you’re already paying for it and find it useful then this is definitely a nice freebie.

Those who have spire elite status can keep it alive by signing up or renewing ambassador status, without the required stay requirements.

do you mean that ambassador will keep spire elite for next year if I sign up for this year , when next year I will receive a 25k bonus point as a spire elite member, so actually it only cost 15k for me to sign up for ambassordor this year, what a sweet spot

Reserved an Ambassador reward night for a Friday / Saturday stay in Chicago for July – it was full price for night one, night two free. Also, according to the agent, the 40K renewal night certificate will be there only for those who pay the $200 – not for the points renewal.

Can I still renew it if my renewal is not until 2/1/2021?

Any chance the charge for Ambassador would code as Intercontinental for current Amex offers?

Didn’t get a trigger email when I did it online. Guessing if you did it at an Intercontinental, it might

Do you think I can combine it with the offer of staying 2 nights at any IHG hotel and getting 1 night free?

IHG is going down the way things stand. They can’t afford to pay rent on like 125 of their US based hotels at least and are about to lose them.

IHG is cash poor. They’re at risk of losing like 100 affiliated hotels in the US due to non payment.

Plenty of cash out there now. They’ll figure out something out to bring in a loan.
