I noticed my category purchases on Citi Custom Cash from October 20th did not track properly at 5%. After escalating via chat, I learned that “it’s a known issue and ticket was already raised regarding this and our team is working on this”.
Now, I’m reading in the comments from reader Harold who experienced the same thing with his October 22nd purchase. He was also told by the tier 2 rep that there was a glitch. Both of us got our points credited manually by the tier 2 rep.
My purchases from October 16th and 27th tracked properly, so it seems to be limited to 20-22 or the dates around there. This issue will likely sort itself out since they are aware of the issue. Worth keeping tabs on, if affected.
This is somewhat related but I don’t know where else to put it. Not really a glitch. I recently made a purchase at a local Ace Hardware and another at Pro Hardware on the Citi Cash Rewards card. Neither one returned 5x points. Home Improvement, hardware etc. was my only category for the statement period. I talked with a CSR who told me that those two places code their stores as construction supplies, not hardware. I was able to get a “one time courtesy credit” of points through a manager. Beware before making any big purchases at those chains.
Anybody else have this problem? If so, maybe this should be under another topic?
Sorry to piggyback on this thread but, I am wondering if I am allowed to apply for a new Citi Custom Cash card when I already have one due to a product change from Citi TYP card?
Thanks!
It is systematic with Citi as I have seen someone I know not get a mailer offer on an existing card that I called in the automated system and activated for them. Did not post in their time frame for the bonus to post.
Also know John at Bank Account Bonus Central to get a retention banking offer that did not pay out.
Not only for Custom cash. I didn’t get points for my Citi Premier transaction on Oct 20 as well
Gas Stations are my category – they’re not tracking t 5X
When reviewing my Nov 2 statement, I found a few transactions that showed “N/A” points earned. However, the total number of points I was credited for the billing cycle was correct.
Good catch, thought I was missing some points from 10/20 too but the total on the statement was correct.
AA, thank you SO MUCH for this. I had only referred to the online main transaction screen plus the “View/Redeem” that breaks down previous statements – both were incorrect. But sure enough, I viewed the actual real statement and it’s correct. I owe you something for saving me another customer service chat with Citi.
Thank you.
I had grocery purchases 10/21 and 10/23 and they both tracked as 5x fine. Not sure if it makes a difference but my statement for those dates already closed.
Same here but for gas. Statement closed 11/2.
I too have some transactions showing location Saudi Arabia. Ive hit my $500 max spend category so it doesn’t matter.
My purchase on Oct 22 shows zero points earned, and a merchant location of Saudi Arabia. Actually it’s the US, and all historical transactions correctly identified the location. Perhaps the two anomalies are related.
Decided to check and I had purchases on Oct 20 and 22 that both properly registered in my 5x category, and I’m fairly certain they showed up that way immediately as well.
Might be category dependent? My 5x is in home improvement.
Mine is Grocery
