jetBlue has added the ability to book flights with a combination of points and cash. To be able to use this feature you need to redeem a minimum of 500 points. All flights are bookable with cash & points, apart from jetBlue’s most basic offering ‘Blue Basic’. It looks like when using this feature you get around 0.9¢ per point in value, this is much less than what you’d normally receive when using jetBlue points. Because of this and the fact it can’t be used on blue basic fares I can’t really see this being useful for most readers.
The only way I see this making sense is if you have a some miles left in your account that you want to get rid of and don’t have enough miles for a full flight redemption. Otherwise a full flight redemption makes much more sense.
It tops out at 0.9 cent, it can drop to 0.4c if you are just topping up by a few miles. Straight redemption is much better usage
Cash out rate is terribad. More of a PR move to say “hey, we helped our customers during this pandemic” when they’re actually doing jack.
It does help customers and reduces B6’s outstanding liabilities if people use the 1000 non-expiring miles that weren’t enough for a full flight to get part of a flight at a lower cost.
Pass. You can get 1.2 per point or more redeeming for award flights. Guess it might be nice if you’re a little bit short. This is more of a delta move than a JetBlue move.
