JetBlue Now Offering Cash Refunds Or 20% Bonus For Cancelled Tickets

In April JetBlue made a huge negative change to it’s schedule change policy by not offering a refund unless a flight was changed by more than 24 hours. The Department of Transport issued an enforcement notice that airlines were required to provide a cash refund for cancelled flights and then JetBlue quickly reversed it’s schedule change policy.

Some customers had been given TravelBank funds instead of cash refunds and the Department of Transport told airlines that if a cash refund was not given they were required to reach out to customers to fix this. JetBlue has now started to send out e-mails to affected customers offering them one of two options:

  • Full cash refund
  • Get a 20% bonus if funds are kept in the TravelBank

Still waiting on a refund from United that I’m trying to help my parents with. Already did DOT complaint but I should probably get them to file a credit card dispute as well.

Best to do both. Fought for 4 months to finally get a chargeback. Appeal if not settled on first route. Always good when the facts and the law are on your side!

Bit of an update: Unfortunately although the flight was in May it seems they booked it many months earlier, and Chase only allows 60 days to file a dispute so I think they’re out of luck on that front.
