At the start of the year JetBlue made changes to their ‘Customer Bill of Rights’, customers that have delayed flights will now receive reduced compensation:
- Delays of 3-3:59 hours: $50 credit (previously $75)
- Delays of 6 or more hours: $200 credit (previously $250)
I personally prefer the more generous EU compensation system for delays but it’s still disappointing to see JetBlue make reductions in the compensation offered.
Was wondering if there is an article that we can find about other airlines. The one I fly a lot is Southwest and they are always tardy.
I’ve gotten $100 Luv vouchers each of the last two times my WN flights were delayed. Each was delayed about two hours.
Shame
Shame! Shame! Shame!
Got €600 x 2 (after a few months using their own claims process) when delayed 6+ hours due to a mechanical issue with Norwegian back in 2017, nearly paid for our trip. Wish the US would adopt EU-style protections for passengers. Then again, Norwegian was nearly bankrupt in 2019. Maybe they had too many delays (wink).
Correct me if I’m wrong but it would require an act of Congress to implement delay / change fee penalties on the airlines. Based on inept Congress is and how powerful the airline lobbying industry is the chances are slim to none.
Exactly, Scott. Not expecting it anytime soon.
That’s amazing. I wasn’t aware any US airline had a publicly published delay compensation chart! Win win. Keep the customer happy and drive additional business.
Wow. This thought is impossible to follow As logical. $50 for a 3h59m delay? You must love the race to the bottom.
This is absurd. Those figures are beyond pathetic. Shame on you JetBlue.
Totally right, because logically speaking, JetBlue is absurd, pathetic, and shameful for promising compensation while the rest of the US airlines offer none. They ought to know that offering something is clearly worse than offering nothing.
Sounds like you’re in favor of the reduction.
