Southwest is also planning to increase the fees for EarlyBird check in. American Express just added a JetBlue offer as well.
To follow up on my own question:
“Baggage allowance for extra seat: When you purchase an extra seat, you increase your checked baggage allowance with the extra seat, but not your carry-on baggage allowance.”

If you need to check in a 3rd (or 4th!) bag , it might make sense to buy an additional seat.
Any idea if additional seats for a traveler get their own checked baggage allowance?
Headline in a few months: DL, UA, AA will charge $30 per checked bag!
JetBlue has joined the race to the bottom.
Wow so charging more than the big 3 for bags…why would anyone fly them outside of New York or Boston?
William Charles will these new changes affect Barclays JetBlue CC holders?
Not sure
I’d bet not. Free bags are the big selling point of most cards.
The only thing it might affect is your personal cost-benefit calculation as to whether the cards are worth getting/keeping.
I guess I’m spoiled by Southwest which is nearly fee free. I don’t fly Jet Blue and this fee schedule pretty much confirms that I never will.
