Our Verdict
If you don’t already have an Aeroplan account it’s well worth signing up for one for the sign up bonus, it should only take you a few minutes at most to sign up. 1,000 miles isn’t enough to redeem for anything in the online shop and isn’t anywhere close to a free flight. If you don’t think you’ll be flying with Aeroplan any time soon, you can use points.com to transfer your miles into another loyalty program. A 1,000 Aeroplan miles will get you the following:
- 373 AAdvantage miles
- 556 Amtrak Guest Rewards
- 722 Asia Miles
- 425 ShowPoints
- 3,802 ChinaRewards
- 1,165 EssoExtra
- 395 EarlyReturns
- 672 Hawaiian Miles
- 481 Saga Points
- 722 IHG Rewards Club
- 336 jetBlue
- 850 LaQuinta Returns
- 802 Melia Rewards Points
- 4,515 Speedy Rewards
- 9,031 Suba Points
- 537 Trident Privilege Points
- 840 US Airways Dividend Miles
- 305 Virgin America miles

“Build up your Aeroplan Miles faster by adding points, miles, and rewards from other programs. Please note: Aeroplan requires a minimum of 15,000 Miles and a maximum of 50,000 Miles per exchange out, up to a 100,000 Miles annual maximum.”
Note. If you already have Aeroplan in your Points.com account, I don’t think there’s a way to delete it online and add a new Aeroplan number. Also, I thought the minimum to transfer was more than 1000 miles, because I let 5k expire a few years ago. I guess that has changed?
