Our Verdict
The freebies are nice, and your first 3 Clicklist orders ship free (standard Clicklist fee is $4.95). Another important point brought out by Slickdeals is that the $50 threshold for a couple of the deals meantioned above is based on the subtotal, before any deals get discounted. That includes the $10-off-$50 coupon, which means you can get $10 off a final price of, say, $25, for a total cost of $15 for the $50 in groceries. (See a potential way of stacking $50 in groceries for a net cost of just $6 on Slickdeals.)
As others point out, Kroger is likely beginning to worry about the grocery competition from Amazon who is sure to create a grocery shopping with similar kinds of online-order ideas.
Well I was actually excited to try out Clicklist…unfortunately, it was a bust. I submitted my order, got my confirmation, viewed the status prior to heading over to Kroger only to find a majority of my items were marked out of stock. I get there and call in and ask if they can give me a final list of what I won’t be receiving so I could run inside and get that stuff first (similar enough items that will work for me). I had frozen items that I preferred not sit out in the car while I ran in. I was given 2 options at this point. They could bring my items now, with maybe a list..(couldn’t get a straight answer on that) or I could cancel the order. I cancelled…went inside and found a majority of the items were quite very much in stock. Ugh.
As some people mentioned on SD, the coupons don’t come off until you actually pick up and pay for the order, so it’s a bit of a leap of faith. But I can confirm that the $10 of $50 comes off the item subtotal. I had $55 worth in my cart, including ~$15 of free items, and my total came out to around $30. All coupons stacked, except for one of the bogos for some reason
DOC, You have a great eye for details! Saw this in my account a few days ago but clicked on one of the items requiring a $50 purchase and assumed all of them had the same requirement. Thanks for feeding the hungry!
Folks, you would be amazed by the number of people who tell me they’re not interested in offers like this because the free items aren’t something they normally eat. News flash: you can donate them. Or store some for an emergency.
I do not see any of these clicklist coupons in my Kroger ap though my local store does offer clicklist. All I’ve got is an offer for no clicklist fee for the first 3 orders I place.
am I missing something or is this only available in certain areas?
I had to click the “direct link” above to get to the page for those coupons…I can’t find my way to them from Krogers website…
Thanks, that worked for me.
I got a $5 off $50 coupon last week. But didn’t get to redeem it, the subtotal before discount was $58 and after discount was $45. Kind of think the Slickdeal comment wasn’t completely the case.
Coupons are not applied automatically.
ah, left out a word — “it’s not (just) Amazon moving into Kroger’s realm, add also….”
while I’m back, just saw next week’s ad for Martin’s (and Giant)….. stunning visa gift card deal coming as of Friday…. 3x fuel points. (meaning buy one $500 vgc, and get 1,500 points — worth $1.50 per gallon, up to 25 gallons at Martin’s….that’s $37.50 !)
i need to move to Virginia dude. i bet your walmarts doesnt give a shit about VGCs either. sigh…
Thanks for the intriguing news re. this latest Kroger promo… will “check it out.” 🙂
I’d add it’s not Amazon moving into Kroger’s realm, add also the serious worries they surely are feeling from the growing “threat” presented by well capitalized international grocery discounters like Aldi and Lidl. (especially here in Virginia…. hearing much buzz about both in my extended family)
ps, As I see it, more pricey regional grocery chains like FoodLion & Giant are going to be in more serious trouble from these new competitive forces… Kroger, I think, can weather the storms at hand. Not so sure about FoodLion. (and that’s before we talk the ever severely over-priced Sam’s Club — just cancelled a 20+ year membership…. and happy to be “freed” at last from that monstrosity)
everyone is pissing in their panties over amazon owning wholefoods. the possibilities are endless and it starts with omnichannel.
also, what I love about amazon is that they dont give a fuck about profits. no profits year after year. bezos is a BEAST.
