Our Verdict
They have offered a $300 bonus in the past (multiple times) with the same requirements so my recommendation would be to wait until they offer that or a similar bonus again in the future. Because of this I won’t be adding this bonus to our best checking promotions page.

DP: Hancock Bank branch employee told me that the majority (over 80%) of the new checking accounts she opens are closed within less than one year.
Rab – Availability: LA, MS, FL, AL, & TX only (no out of state applications)
Where does the no out of state applications DP come from? You experience? Want to add it to the post
William,
I called customer service…the representative confirmed that new applicants must have an address located in one of the states with branches. You could probably utilize a secondary home address if you had the proper documentation (i.e. rental property or summer/winter home).
I live in one of the states where branches are located. Most of the employees are helpful and friendly.
You have the ability to open the personal checking accounts online with the promo, but not savings or business checking accounts. Savings and business checking accounts must be done in branch.
Thanks, would be interesting to see if this is actually enforced in branch or not.
Any data points on whether they allow out of state applications or not?
Not sure about out of state apps but I know a lot of people in eligible states opted against because they require in branch opening.
