• Gold Credit Union is offering a bonus of $250 when you open a new checking account using promo code FREEDOM21. Bonus broken is down as follows:
  • $50 when you open and maintain a gold medal checking account (must be kept in good standing for 7 months)
  • $100 when you establish direct deposit to your account (minimum of two direct deposits per month for 7 months)
  • $100 when you use your GOLD debit or credit card (make 12 transactions per month on your debit card for 7 months)
• You can also get a $150 bonus when you open or transfer a loan to Gold Credit Union

The Fine Print

• Credit union eligibility and Membership are required prior to opening an account or loan. Offer is limited to new Members of GOLD Credit Union who become a Member and open a GOLD Medal Checking account between 7/1/2021 and 8/31/2021.
• Eligible bonuses will be paid as a special dividend deposited to Member’s account. Any earned bonuses will be paid between 3/1/2022 and 7/30/2022.
• Offer can be canceled or withdrawn at any time without notice.
• See credit union for details. 2 Account must be opened between 7/1/2021 and 8/31/2021 and must remain open and in good standing, meeting account requirements, for 7 months (month 1 begins the first day of the month after account opening) to be eligible for bonus.
• Minimum of 2 ACH direct deposits of payroll, pension, or social security per month.
• Must be established within 30 days of account opening and be ongoing for a minimum of 7 months (month 1 begins the first day of the month after account opening) to be eligible for bonus.
• Minimum of 21 combined transactions per month on GOLD Debit or Credit Card for 7 months (month 1 begins the first day of the month after account opening).
• Must be a new loan or refinanced competitor loan; existing GOLD loan refinances are excluded. Only GOLD Auto, RV, Personal, Home Equity, and Mortgage Loans are eligible for bonus.
• Credit cards and lines of credit are excluded. Bonus can be earned only once.
• Loan must be funded within 7 months of account opening (month 1 begins the first day of the month after account opening). Not all applicants will qualify for approval.
• All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Monthly Fees

Gold medal account has no monthly fees, but if you don’t meet the account requirements for six consecutive months you’ll be converted to a regular gold account that does have monthly fees. Those requirements are as follows:

• Members must have a minimum of $850 per month in deposits, $750 per month in withdrawals, and an active GOLD Debit or Credit Card

Early Account Termination Fee

There is no early account termination fee according to the fee schedule.

Our Verdict

Don’t think this is worth doing as the requirements need to be met for 7 months and the bonus isn’t that high. For now we won’t be adding this to our list of the best bank account bonuses.
