List Of All Chase Cards Pay Yourself Back Categories (Aeroplan, Southwest, United, Marriott)

Chase has slowly been rolling out the Pay Yourself Back (PYB) feature on many of their cards which allows redeeming points to offset select charges. The Sapphire Reserve is the main one people use heavily, and there are some others with some usefulness as well.

  1. Chase Aeroplan card PYB is 1.25 cents per point on Travel purchases (limited to 200k points per year) and annual fee through 12/31/25. There are some other categories for redemption at .8 cents per point: Dining, Grocery, Gas, Home Improvement.
  2. Chase Southwest (all card versions) PYB 1 cent per point toward cover the annual fee (nothing else is eligible any longer, just the annual fee). Valid through June 30, 2025.
  3. Chase United (all card versions) PYB for the Annual Fee (between 1.35 and 1.6 cents per point, depending on the card version). You can also PYB United flight purchases of $50+ at 1 cent per point. These are valid through December 31, 2025.
  4. Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bold card PYB for airline purchases and Marriott hotel purchases at .8 cents per point (up to $750 total per year). Valid through June 30, 2025.
  5. Chase Sapphire Preferred, Freedom cards, and INK cards offer select charities at 1.25 cents per point.
  6. Chase Sapphire Reserve we covered in a separate dedicated post.

Can we get some DPs on the individual UA cards after the refresh? I’ll start: Quest PYB is 1.4cpp.

just canceled my Aeroplan card after a few years. Had to keep because of the 50k cert – until I used both of them.

Takes a lot of points to get one’s money worth from the PYB feature. $95 / year is a lot for a card with no particular annual benefits if you don’t fly Air Canada itself much in econ.

I consider this one of my most valuable cards. Great value when transferring at 20% bonus from ink cards. Add the 1.25 c/p on travel (don’t have to use inflated Chae portal), along with the 10% Aeroplan card bonus and you get over 1.6 c/p on travel like parking, non chain hotels, car rentals, etc. And you can book travel through the discount travel sites too!
This is an exceptional card for the well travelled. Too bad you couldn’t use or see the value.
I know some will chirp in and say “well I get 2 c/p minimum on Hyatt or airlines”. That may be true, but if you’re heavy into this game you likely already have boatloads of these miles/point currencies already. This card allows you to take advantage of other travel normally taken out of pocket. A great way to add diversity and keep money in your pocket.

No, Marriott Bonvoy Bold card PYB  is $100 for 12500 pts. That is 0.8 cpp.

Thanks for the correction….In some cases 0.8 cpp may be better than direct point redemption especially with heavily discounted corporate rates—if available…
It’s very YMMV though. 1.0 cpp would have been much better and easy choice over point redemption for hotel nights… It’s also not very useful if only up to $750 and expire by 6/2025…

I’m not sure what the point of PYB back is.. because you can almost always get much better value redeeming for Chase Travel on CSR or transferring to travel partners? Why would someone choose PYB? Asking because genuinely curious

I had a case recently where it made sense. I was selecting seats on British Airways (after getting free seats by transferring points). I could have transferred additional points to use to select seats, but it cost less points to use PYB to cover the cash cost vs. the number of Avios miles required to select seats.

For someone that doesn’t travel much or at all, PYB is a great deal. 1.25X is always better than 1X!

I accumulate UR points faster than I can use them for travel. PYB allows me to cash out the extraneous for more than 1¢.

i understand now.. thanks! I mean it’s always good to have more options so I’m glad that Chase at least gives us more options. But I always try to make sure I spend all my UR points through Chase Travel or travel partners where there’s better value

Summer as another example/perspective to your question, Chucks post isn’t very clear IMO. For the SWA card at least, you don’t use Chase UR for PYB but SWA Rapid Reward (RR) points. So since RR points can only be used on SWA flights (not Chase Travel or for transfer to partners) I have found PYB to be a useful option for the annual fee considering I have more RR points than I know what to do with (esp with the recent devaluation that makes them less valuable to use on flights). Maybe not the best use of RR points by me, but just wanted to share…..Chuck, thanks for the interesting post!

Agree. I had forgot about this option. I we also have lots of extra points since we only travel a couple times per year.

Not sure what you all see, but mine Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bold card PYB value is only showing 0.8 cents per point.

If you happen to live near a Habitat for Humanity ReStore (a used furniture store owned by the charity), purchases made there code as HfH donations and are eligible for the 1.25 PYB on Ink cards. At least, this worked for me when I tried it last year, YMMV.

Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bold card PYB for airline purchases and Marriott hotel purchases at 1 cent per point (up to $750 total per year). Valid through June 30, 2025.

Incorrect. It is $0.008 pP or 12,500 points per $100 PYB.

Do the other cards, like CSP not change quarterly?

 Chuck,

After seeing this comment from II, I checked your article and noticed that you wrote “Chase Sapphire Preferred, Freedom cards, and INK cards offer select charities at 1.25 cents per point.”

I didn’t even realize that those cards offered PYB. Is this a new thing for them? If not, has charity been the only thing offered on them?

the value of Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bold card should be 0.8c per point.
