The Offer
Direct link to offer: Uxbridge & Worcester
- Country Bank is offering a $400 bonus when you open a new checking account and complete the following requirements for three months:
- At least 12 debit card purchases, post and settle;
- At least 1 (one) of the following types of transactions: direct deposit, ACH payment, or bill pay transaction(s), post and settle;
- Be enrolled in and have agreed to receive e-statements rather than paper statements.
The Fine Print
- To be eligible for the Kasasa Cash Back Checking promotional offer you must be at least 18 years of age, and not have owned a Country Bank checking account within the last 180 days. Limited to one offer per person as identified by Social Security Number (SSN).
- Requirements to receive the Bonus offer:
- Open a Kasasa Cash Back Checking account in-person or online starting April 1st, 2023.
- At account opening, you must set up and maintain a direct deposit to your new Kasasa Cash Back Checking account totaling at least $500 per statement cycle, for three (3) consecutive months. Qualifying direct deposits are regular, periodic automated clearing house (ACH) credits, which may include payroll, salary, pension or government payments (such as Social Security). Payments through the Real-Time Payments (RTP) network, and payments through peer-to-peer networks such as PayPal, Zelle, Venmo or others do not qualify as direct deposits. Transfers from another Country Bank deposit account do not qualify.
- Bonus Offer Payout:
- Your account will be credited within 120 days of bonus requirements being met.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
This account has no monthly fees to worry about
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so unsure if there is an EATF.
Our Verdict
Better than the previous $150 checking bonus we’ve seen. We need to know if it’s a hard or soft pull.

declined due to chex
Also notable from the terms, in regards to the debit transactions:
“The following activities do not count toward earning account rewards: ATM-processed transactions, transfers between accounts, debit card purchases processed by merchants and received by our bank as ATM transactions, non-retail payment transactions and purchases made with debit cards not issued by our institution.”
So no financial MCCs predictably (a la Cash App, lol). “Non-retail payment transactions” makes me a bit nervous; wonder if they’d try to include bill payments/utilities in that? Maybe it’s just a standard term, and I’m overthinking.
Be aware of the qualification cycle dates for each month:
https://www.countrybank.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Kasasa-Cash-and-Cash-Back-Qualification-Cycle.pdf
E.g. February 2025 cycle is 01/31-02/27 and March 2025 is 02/28-03/28.
Tried applying online but was rejected, went in branch and they were able to open it there. Had the option to fund up to $2000 with a credit card online but was not able to do that in branch.
service rep says it does not code as a cash advance to fund with a bank account.
Declined again today :/ . No joy from this bank for me. LOL/24 Chex.
Approved in branch. lol/24 Chex. No issues, no questions asked. Very nice banker.
What were your recent inquiries like?
The offer page has been taken down saying “page is not found” when I tried to click in to apply as OOS

Opened in last Oct., haven’t received the bonus yet
You need 4 months of good behavior. Have you been doing it?

Approved after a biz day or so in-footprint with middling ChexSystems numbers (which they pulled): 0/1 month, 2/3, 9/6, 12/12, 21/24, 30 total. It had I think $2k credit card funding, same as in the past per previous comments. It did require identity verification, with one of those things that asks for a selfie with your mouth opened & closed and such
No, no “invite.” Not sure if that refers to an ad or something, or just seeing the offer in branch? But I messaged support to verify it was “attached” or anything, and they said if opened online, as long as you were on the Worcester (and presumably Uxbridge) page and clicked through to open the account you were eligible. I figured it was safe enough, esp for $400
Thanks
