Our Verdict
Insane requirements for a bonus of only $100. Definitely not worth doing in my opinion and I won’t be adding this to our best checking sign up bonus page.

Now $200. Same “full direct deposit for a year” requirement. There’s no link on that page but you can open online elsewhere William Charles
Can you share where you see the bonus?
Hmm — yeah it’s not from the main text of that page for some reason (anymore?). It’s still in the footnotes.
Looks like it’s now just on the Simply Free Checking page, and the homepage is advertising the deal for Simply Free Checking
Love the $100 bonus! Oops, just noticed it is now $150! Love seeing things improve.
William Charles One term change that makes the offer at least not sound quite as insane:
Old Terms:
“Your checking account will be charged $100 if these qualifications are not met during the first 12 months after the account is opened.”
New Terms:
“Your checking account will be charged $150 if you close your account the first 12 months after the account is opened.”
Before it sounded as if you didn’t jump through all these hoops you’d actually lose $100. Now there’s just a $150 early close fee. I still don’t know why anyone would do this.
Bonus now $150 William Charles Chuck

Wow. This is the first bonus I can recall that penalizes you for not doing the offer. William Charles the terms are updated where the fee if you don’t fulfill the offer is also $110 now, the same as the offer amount. Not that this matters, there is no sane person on the planet that would do all this for $110 dollars.
Got excited for [MA] but then yearlong DD for $100…
Might just go looking for money on the street and find more than $100 in a year.
