[YMMV] Marriott: Attend Virtual Timeshare Presentation And Get 50,000 Points

Update 8/21/24: Direct link doesn’t work anymore, but you can apparently call in and maybe get this offer but only 15,000 points if your single. Hat tip to us1549.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Marriott is offering 50,000 points when you attend a virtual timeshare presentation

Our Verdict

Presentation is 90 minutes long. Not as good as some of the in person offers, but less pressure for some people and more convenient. I’d recommend reading our introduction to timeshares here.

I just finished mine, and I literally got into multiple arguments with the salesperson, hahaha.

Yeah, I had the audacity to yawn and look a bit disinterested at our Hilton one last summer and really pissed off the presenter. Oh well, took the points and was off

Was it 1-1? Could you tune it out at any points? 90 minutes? Thanks.

Word of advice for those who haven’t attended a timeshare presentation before: I would only recommend doing this if you’re assertive enough to confidently say “NO” and have enough backbone and spine to say “NO” for 30-40+ mins straight, or for those who have a career in sales to know how to work around salespeople.

The “closing tactics” they use will be emotionally draining for those thinking it’s just a slideshow presentation. They’ll start off by qualifying you and get you to say yes and agree with simple qualifiers (“oh you like travelling?” or “oh so you typically spend $8-10K in luxury hotel brands a year with Marriott and hyatt and hilton?”) then will grill you to bits once you start to say no and give them objections (“you think it’s too expensive? but you’ll be able to save $20K a YEAR with a timeshare!! why would you wanna pass this up??” or “you don’t want to commit? didn’t you say you enjoy trying out different hotel brands with flexibility and lots of amenities?”)

I did a 90-minute one for a $150 visa gift card (alternative was 10K bonvoy) back in 2021 and it stretched to 2 hours and towards the end the rep tried to bring their supervisor to try to close me also then they finally gave up. Literally was exhausted from having to say no over and over until I made sure I could secure the gift card.
