Our Verdict

Works out to be an extra 1.4x points. Not really worth going for this bonus unless you’re planning to put spend on the card anyway to hit other benefits.

How about $8k spend on a new Ink Preferred card and get 100k UR points(plus 40k referral)? Even cashing out that’s $1400 or so.

Or 10k Bonvoy points valued at about $100.

LOL. Nice try Bonvoy

Absolutely terrible deal….10k points is like half a night and they do bonus promos where you can earn that many points off one stay. No way Im spending $7k to earn that.

With the 5X on Gas, Dining, and Grocery quarterly offer for the Bonvoy Boundless card maybe this is useful if you have a lot of additional Marriott spend already planned as well? Could be worth shifting over the last $1K – $2K spend to get 10000 points on that last bit.

Trying to sign up for one of the elevated AMEX Marriott card offers for P2, hopefully this is available on the new card when we get it. Got pop-up jailed on a referral have to see if the welcome offer will clear sans referral bonus.

Do you have details on the 5x quarterly bonuses you mention? I’m searching and not seeing anything. I wasn’t aware this was a benefit of the Bonvoy Boundless

Check the mybonus link mentioned below, it’s targeted but seemed like the Marriott bonus was more common among Chase cobranded cards for this quarter.

how much is 10k points worth?
i pay gas, utilities, restaurant, cellphone bill, all get 5% cashback.
that 7000$ earn me 350$ with 5% cashback !

Utilities via credit card? Seems like the fees will negate some of these. For example, Xfinity started charging extra for cards or removed auto pay discount.

let say my PG&E bill is like 100$ a month. they charge something like 2$ fee, too lazy to check. 5% back is 5bucks minus 2$fee, still earning 3$ cashback

Since you mentioned PG&E, they charge something like $1.35 per CC transaction. So the same $1.35 whether you make a $100 payment or a $1000 payment. I’ve done the $1000 in the past when I could afford it. Definitely worth the fee to help meet minimum spend if you can float it.
