Our Verdict
Not sure why Marriott seems to like these promotions to be so confusing. Remember that card members need to book different brands to get the additional 2,000 points. This will stack with other Marriott deals:
- [Targeted] Chase Offers: Save 15% On Marriott Hotels (Max $85 Savings)
- Chase Offers: Homes & Villas By Marriott Spend $100 & Get $70 Back
- AmEx Offers (Business Cards): Marriott Properties, 20% Back Or Spend $300 & Get $60 Statement Credit
- AmEx Offers: Marriott Properties, Spend $300 & Get $60 Statement Credit
- AmEx Offers: Home & Villas by Marriott, Spend $500 & Get $100 Back
Does anyone know if you just have to hold a Marriott credit card or actually have to pay for the stay with said credit card to earn the extra 2,000 points? I just completed my second stay and only earned 2,000 (not 4,000) bonus points. I carry both Chase and Amex Marriott cobranded cards.
terms dictate cobra d card must be used at time of stat and points will post 6 weeks after promotion end
Bonvoy’s biggest global promotion of the year amounts to $15 worth of points and another $15 worth of points if you have their credit card. Think about that for a minute… and try not to cry for what this program has become. They are now the K-Mart/Sears of the hospitality industry.
They must be targeting their better offers. I just completed a 22,500 points for two stays promotion and I only had to pay for two fairly inexpensive night to earn it.
Thanks. I logged into my account, selected Promotions from the dropdown, and there it was. I had to hit two Register buttons on two different screens to get Registered, but after that it showed a screen with my progress on this promotion (which is of course 0 at this point, since the promotion hasn’t even started).
Anybody who is already a Marriott Bonvoy member:
First of all, try doing the above, instead of just using the link, and see if you see it. It could be that you have to be logged in first, and only then pull up your Promotions page, for it to work.
If you still don’t see it in your Promotions, you may want to contact Marriott. Marriott has a very long history (going back to long before their merger with SPG) of SOME members not seeing promotions in their account EVERY promotion cycle (but not necessarily the same members each promotion cycle), but being able to register for them after contact Marriott. This has long been documented as a problem on FlyerTalk’s Marriott forum. It happens to different people every promotion cycle.
YMMV. Got notice I was not eligible when enrolling.
Does this promo work for Marriott properties outside the U.S?
I don’t see why not. The “direct link” above shows a page which lists the hotel brands that work for the multiple hotel brands part of the promotion, and for example it includes Protea hotels, which only has properties in Africa.
Didn’t get this promotion. Seems to be targeted?
