Marriott Now Allowing 30 Elite Night Credits Per Year From Credit Cards (15 Personal & 15 Business)

Marriott co-branded cards come with a benefit of 15 elite night credits per year. Previously you could only get a total of 15 elite night credits even if you held multiple cards. Marriott has changed the rules and you can now get 15 elite night credits from a personal card and 15 elite night credits from a business card for a total of 30 elite night credits. The official terms are as follows:

A maximum of 15 Elite Night Credits will be provided per Marriott Bonvoy Member Account, unless you have both a small business Marriott Bonvoy Card account and a consumer Marriott Bonvoy Card account; then, you may receive a combined maximum of 30 Elite Night Credits (15 per Card account)

It’s important to remember that both Chase & American Express issue these Marriott cards and the limit is across all cards (e.g 30 nights maximum, not 30 nights just for Chase cards). Even with this change I can’t see many people hitting elite night requirements without a reduction on what’s required from Marriott.

Marriott confirmed that the 30 elite nights offer (15 personal + 15 business card) does *not* apply to the Canadian versions of the Marriott credit cards. Canadian cardholders will only earn a maximum of 15 elite nights even if they hold both cards. Unfortunately, Amex Canada still has the old language in its terms and conditions. #lessonlearned

That makes Platinum status very easy to attain. I guess only Ambassador Elites matter to Marriott, if they care about loyalty at all.

Oops. My name’s a Typo

Any way to still get a Biz Marriott card from Chase?

Well that’s great news. Should be able to easily reach Platinum now, but it will be harder to re-qualify for Titanium with all this going on.

Nice. I just logged into my Marriott account and it is already reflecting the 30 nights.

if you open marriott card today do you get 15 nights for 2020? Seems like a no but looking for DP.

Marriott terms
“Upon opening your Card Account, a maximum of 15 Elite Night credits will be credited to your Marriott Bonvoyâ„¢ member account within 60 days. On or before March 1 of each subsequent calendar year, a maximum of 15 Elite Night credits will be credited to your Marriott Bonvoy member account operated by Marriott International, Inc. in accordance with Marriott Bonvoy terms and conditions. To be eligible to receive the 15 Elite Night credits with this Card, you must be the primary cardmember, your Card Account must be open as of December 31 of the prior year, and you must have an active Marriott Bonvoy member account linked to your credit card account.”

After yet another data breach this year, they should up their game.

Such a shame that Hyatt didn’t win the bid for SPG. Marriott is such a garbage company and has done more harm to the SPG brand than any of us could have imagined.
