- Card earns at the following rates:
- Six Marriott rewards points per dollar spent at participating hotels
- Two points per dollar spent on all other purchases
- Anniversary free night certificate for any property up to 35,000 points
- Silver status, upgraded to gold elite status when you spend $35,000 in purchases each year
- Coming in 2019: Receive 15 nights towards elite status (you can only receive this once regardless of how many Marriott/SPG cards you have)
- Chase 5/24 rule most likely applies to this card
Our Verdict
The official launch bonus on this card is 100,000 points after $5,000 in spend, without the $95 annual fee being waived. To compare this offer is basically $295 + two free nights up to 35,000 points each vs that offer of 100,000 points, plus this offer has the lower spend requirement. The other offer gives you more flexibility as it’s points rather than two free nights, but if you’re going to spend your free night certificates on a category five property then I’d say this deal is a lot better than the other deal. As always if you have questions about Chase cards I’d recommend reading this.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the free night certificates will post to the rewards account?
I got the card last month and have received the 2 night certificates. But it doesn’t seem to let me book hotels in the 35000 point category, even if it is reduced to 30000 for point saver. I have tried hotels in the 30000 points and it does let me. Any ideas why the 35000 point hotels don’t work?
Was insta approved for the new IHG card 30 days ago, no new accounts, but got the wait 30 day email and info will be sent in mail in 7-10 business days phone call. So guessing the IHG counts towards 5/24 which I thought it didn’t? Otherwise I have no idea for the denial??? Anyone have other ideas?
Anyone past 5/24 got approved?
I am wondering this too…any DP? In my case i dont have any Marriott CCs yet but planning to get the business one very soon once i hear back.
seems there is no way around this one. wife is at 5/24 but 1 is just as an authorized user and they still wouldn’t let it through.
Unrelated to this post but asking in case someone knows. Can the anniversary Cat 5 cert you get with the old Marriott card be exchanged for points? Don’t have any use for a Cat 5 cert that is expiring.
Does anyone know if the upgrade bonus points from Premier to Premiere Plus count as a sign up bonus also, hence resetting the 24 month bonus wait period?
I think DOC has opined in an earlier post that he does not forsee this.
+1
I wonder if this offer could be double dipped with the 100k/5k offer
ur joking right? when chase has clearly told you what they are now looking for, u wanna be Batman and double dip the joker? go right ahead…
Do the two free nights have an expiration Date?
Usually it’s one year from date of issue
If approved for this card, can I book two category 7 rooms? As the award chart currently stands?
Yup, should be possible.
Many Category 7 hotels right now may be slotted into the new Category 5 of 35,000 points, BUT as we have seen in some of the released hotel market previews, Marriott has raised the total points for certain hotels, so not all of those currently in Category 7 may make it into the new Category 5 — some may be placed higher.
So, we will have to await the new chart for definitive answers.
“We need to review your request a little longer.”
I am well over the 5/24 rule, so this is probably why.
Did you call the status line? Did it immediately say 7-10 days?
Just called in now, and yes.
i dont get it. ur over 5/24 but u still applied? for what?
“Be the DP you want to see” Only way to know if these new cards enforce 5/24 is to try.
