McDonald’s No Longer Accepts Payments With American Express Points

In late 2014 American Express & McDonald’s announced that the ability to to use American Express Membership Rewards points to pay for purchases (as well as a $1 donation every time this was done, up to a limit of $500,000). Points were worth 1¢ each.

As of January 10th, this option has been removed. American Express no longer make mention of it on their website. Obviously not a huge loss, but some people still enjoyed the ability to easily cash out some points for 1¢ each. It was always a weird/interesting partnership as American Express have traditionally tried to align themselves with premium brands.

Seems like a natural — if you kill the Serve, you should kill the whole Amex Trailer Park portfolio.

Some Mcdonalds in my neighborhood
Dont accept any Amex cards to begin with.
( not a big mcdonalds fan but if you like egg and cheese and pancakes then you have to try the mcgriddle!).

Thank thee! I have accidentally rushed and had that charge as MRs at least 5 times! Not a frequent fast food eater, but at least Amex lets you undo the pay with points online! It was a neat concept.

Do you think we will ever see something like Amex Pay? I feel like Discover will never come to samsung pay.

Thank God. It was getting super annoying to buy my coffee with my Amex Everyday and having to always decline the Pay with MR option.

You should move out of that community and start to eat at less trashy places. Or even better, begin to prepare your own food.

Oh Alan we know you are one of those closet Micky D’s eaters that always trash them and say I would never eat there.

The BIg Mac is the best sandwich ever made…..I have to get my fix at least once a month or two.

They wouldn’t be a Fortune 500 company if no one eat there. It’s okay you can come out of the closet.
