The Mercedes-Benz Credit Card earns 3x Membership Rewards points on gasoline purchases at gas stations located in the United States, but only if the transaction is $400 or less.
Apparently, the restriction to transactions of $400 or less wasn’t sufficient for rapacious Mercedes-Benz Credit Card holders because American Express has added a new parenthetical to the terms & conditions of the card:
Effective May 1, 2017, you will get 3X points on the first $15,000 of purchases at US gas stations per calendar year year [sic]; purchases made before May 1, 2017 will not be counted toward the 2017 calendar year maximum.
This is sad news for owners of the V8 AMG C63 – with 15 MPG average, they’ll only earn 3x Membership Rewards on fillups for at most the first 100,000 miles they drive per calendar year. (Though the definition of “calendar year year” is up for debate.)
Fortunately, American Express has not instituted a limit on the gas category for the EveryDay Preferred credit card, so you can still earn 3x Membership Rewards points, uncapped, as long as you use the card 30 or more times in a billing period.
which one of you guys are at fault for this? haha…
Are there good examples of how the 30 transxn on the AMEX Everyday Preferred are taken care of. Amazon?

Is there a schwab platinym 75k link?
No
I wish I had discovered this April 1 because this is pretty close to my platonic ideal of an April Fools post, being implausible yet true and both bemusing and amusing on its face (in this case, for the absurdity of its inconsequentialism).
It will impact some folks who used it at 7-11 or Wawa to MS, but I doubt a lot of people did it with this card.
Cheers,
PedroNY
Yeah, I can’t imagine many people MS’d gas on this card — there was a $400 limit on transactions that count for 3x and the EDP had the same earn rate (but no limit), same $95 annual fee, but also earned 1.5x everywhere and 4.5x on groceries (up to $6k), which just spanks the MB credit card for MS.
I honestly have no idea what could’ve driven this change, given there was already a transaction limit and given that there’s no cap coming on the EDP (yet!).
Seems like the main reason to cap transactions at $400 is to target MS – even at $4/gallon that’s 100 gallons. Though I guess Benz owners are more likely to own boats…
Any way I can get the recent MB Platinum offer for 50k MR for 3k spending? Incognito doesn’t work. Dont believe the 75 MB offer will return if they just came out with 60 MR offer…
As far as I know, it’s no longer possible to get this offer.
