Hat tip to reader Kong
Well, a cell phone # which is not in MC’s database is required. Google voice # won’t work now.
“There was a problem with your Captcha response.” after multiple attempts to sign up for their newsletter. No idea why it does not seem to be working.

I signed up for email newsletters and there was a different free promo. Of course after signing up I realized that the store is way too far away and not worth the trip. 🙁
A good deal if you live near a store and they aren’t out of stock. As I live 30 miles away, most of the savings would be eaten up by driving costs, so I never took advantage of an earlier deal, whether or not they actually HAD the item (256gB SSD in my case).
SSD sold out in most of stores. Seems that supplies were too low anyway. Wonder if they plan to restock.
No issues for me in Houston yesterday.
They had boxes of them by the register in the NJ store but in the past when they are out they would substitute with something similer. On SD some were lucky enough to get a 512GB SSD as a sub
Do they ask for your phone number? Or you just show the coupon?
they usually ask for a phone number, email, and address to register you as a member then scan the coupon. This offer says it’s for new customers but they are pretty chill at Micro Center and will normally still let you use the coupon even if you are in their system already but getting the coupon requires a phone # and email hasn’t been registered with them before
Got 2 ssd at one of the stores. Another store was sold out! These free ssds are hot cake!
2 in 1 checkout or did you go back?

Any solutions?

It looks like you need a SATA enclosure in order to use the SSD. Which one did any of you get?
You can just buy one of the USB 3.0/USB-C ones at Microcenter. They cost between $10 and $25.
🙂 🙂 Free ssd costs 10$ because sata enclosure is needed 🙂 !! I wonder if they really wanted to sell their sata enclosures and jacked up those prices.
Thankfully I have a desktop.
Be prepared that they’ll ask for your address in the store.
Google Voice numbers don’t work
haha I used GV number and it worked fine.
