Many American Express personal cards are now at their best-ever offers due to the added $200 (plus the referral credit and the furniture bonus for referrer). For example:

Lowe’s and Home Depot sell Visa gift cards and other gift cards to places like eBay, Amazon, gas, etc., so it should be easy to max out the $200 spend.
Not all personal cards have the $200 extra bonus, but most do. Really sweet. What’s especially nice that it’s showing specifically on referral links which means that your friend will get a nice bonus too.Â

Debating on having P2 go for this since I’m just going to barely hit $15k on my offer in the 6 months and that involves holding a ton of non-liquidable GCs that I planned on using over the back half of the year. I have no interest in holding 10k+ in gift cards.
So you can get the full bonus that is displayed even if your referred person chooses a different card than your own (15,000 MR for referring from your Plat even if you referred person chooses some crap plum business card or whatever)?
Yes, as long as they initially click your referral link, they can select any other Amex card, even business cards and you will get the referral bonus regardless of which card they choose. This is something that makes Amex such a great company.

My little brother successfully used this credit at Home Depot for a $50 gift card. The credit hit his account after a few days and he will go back to use the rest of it. Just a heads up!
I was offered the 70000 miles & $200 airline credit while checking out during a Delta ticket purchase. Did the application through the check-out process and was given a temporary CC number to be able to make the purchase with said card to get the $200 credit. Easy peasy.
Also, the offer terms stipulate: “purchases of gift cards are not qualifying purchases”. Does anyone have any DPs indicating that buying gift cards is actually valid? How will Amex know what items specifically were bought?

So I interpret that, by this language saying “up to” $200, it means that the maximum $200 statement credit needs to be all on one transaction >=$200? Can’t do like $100+25+75=200 at 3 different stores?
Seems like multiple transactions up to $200 will be covered by the credit, according to my P2 🙂 happy spending!

My little brother finally went to Home Depot today and planned on buying one $50 gift card and see if that triggers some of the credit. Looks like we will find out in a few days? Either way, I will update with the results if he got the credit or not.

Ugh… the dreaded popup. Does anyone know if the popup is related to being at max cards? In the past I’ve gone pending and just had to call in and manually cancel a card. I haven’t opened an AMEX in awhile, but use that ones I have frequently… first time I’ve gotten the popup.
I think P2 either got the pop up for applying for a Chase card in the last 2 months or canceling amex cards long ago. Not much churning here and thought this was worth using a 5/24 slot.
