- Fort Bragg Federal Credit Union is offering a $100 bonus when you open a basic or secured checking account and receive a direct deposit
The Fine Print
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
- Secure checking account has a $5.95 monthly fee. Waived with minimum average daily balance of $10,000 or more
- Basic checking account has a $2.95 monthly fee. Waived with minimum average daily balance of $200 AND direct deposit
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find any EATF in the fee schedule.
Our Verdict
Bit difficult to keep the accounts fee free, especially for a $100 bonus. If it turns out to be a soft pull it might be worth doing for people that have already done the bigger bank account bonuses.

*TransUnion hard pull.
No Chex alert yet.
Eligibility: I chose AUSA local chapter.
Funding: $105 max. (Debit Card, bank transfer, mail a check).
Application pending
Approved.
What are your TU stats? Should I thaw?
Thaw it because they will do a hard pull. My credit score is high, had 4 hard pulls on TransUnion when they pulled it. I utilize 6% of my credit.
Never got a Chex alert and I can confirm they did NOT pull Chex.
Had to send them copy of AUSA membership.
UPDATE:
After I received a debit card in the mail, they pulled my Chex report (14 days after opening) and then Closed my account without any notification.
So I wasted a hard pull and a Chex pull.
