Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
This account has no monthly fees to worry
Early Account Termination Fee
According to this fee schedule there is no early account termination fee.
Our Verdict
This is much better than the $250 giftcard bonus that was previously offered. Probably worth it even if it’s a hard pull especially with the credit card funding. We will add this to our list of the best bank account bonuses.

Any one received 1099-INT from this bank?
My account got closed for inactivity, but I called in this morning and when checking my account info the representative said it didn’t seem a 1099 had been produced for the gift card I received last February.
I didn’t receive it.
P1 and P2 did not get forms. Their website said their online issuer of their tax forms was down at one point, but I still cannot see anything and that issue appears to have been fixed.
It’s a little strange since I think I remember their signup terms saying we would be given a form.
William Charles Chuck Even though this offer is expired, they emailed me a referral code, and anyone who uses it to open a checking account gets $25. No terms, just signing up at truliantfcu.org/bank/checking and using a code. Mine is [removed]
Might be worth it to wait and see if there will be another sign up bonus, but easy money to someone who wants it now. Also, no limit on number of referrals you can make and you get $25 a pop too. Yes to Chex, soft pull.
The other nice thing Truliant does is that after every month where you don’t use your debit card, they offer you a $10-$15 Amazon gift card with 5-10 purchases the next month. P1 and P2 do small Amazon gift card reloads, so that’s a nice way to get any extra $60-75 a year per person.
Difficult to get this offer if they didn’t give you the bonus automatically.
P1 and P2 both opened accounts last year and met qualifications. Because they have a certain number of days in the offer language, P2 was due for the bonus by January and P1 was due for bonus by March 2023. P2 called in February and easily received the bonus in a few days.
P1 was much more complicated. Called a couple months after I should have received it and was told I met the bonus and I would get it in a few days just like P2; however, I never got it. I called again several weeks later and was told this time I did not meet the bonus because it was targeted. Once I was told this, I was able to submit screenshots showing there was no language for any sort of targeted campaign. I was still told I didn’t meet it (which was obviously false) so I had to spend over an hour on the phone talking to the supervisor and the supervisor’s supervisor until they said they would contact marketing. I was called back a week later and told they would honor it; however, about 2 weeks past that still nothing had happened. I had to call again and get to the same people to get my offer. I received it later that day. I would not have been able to get the offer without taking timestamped screenshots of my entire application and getting names and direct phone numbers of people I spoke to. Everyone was nice, but it took a long time and a lot of effort to get what was advertised.
Did anyone have an issue getting Truliant to honor the bonus offer? When I reached out today, they indicated that I did not qualify for the promotion since it was a direct mail campaign to a very targeted audience.
I’m in the same boat after speaking with a CSR this morning. She stated the bonus offer was by mail only targeted at some Truliant members (not for new applicants). I completed the bonus requirements in late December and never received an email for the certificate.
Same shit happened to me. I told them to fuck off, and Im closing my account.
same here. I’m gonna try BBB, CFPB, and NCUA .
Any luck?
No luck for me too. What to do next?
Darn! I completed requirements in late January, so should have received email late March, and have been waiting to inquire. I’ll inquire soon. Others, recommendations for who to complain to if they don’t honor the offer, and any success with that effort? (Unfortunately I don’t know where my screenshots of the original offer are.)
I inquired. The person I called had to connect me to their external service, who then looked into things with their contact, and then emailed me to tell me it was no good due to the targeted promotion only. When I wrote back and showed evidence I found of what their offer was (no exclusions were written into it), they relented and said they’d grant the bonus. Then it was 5-6 days to get the email with offer codes for gift cards. My suggestion to others: stay polite but don’t give up.
Yes, I spoke with a person named Tatiana at Truliant. After Tatiana checked with her marketing manager, she informed me that this was a “direct mail only campaign” and that my account would not be eligible for the bonus. I asked to be transferred to a manager. I was told the same thing. So I raised hell and she said the would check with marketing and get back to me. I threatened to refer them to the Federal Trade Commission for deceptive advertising and marketing. Hopefully we’ll get them to change their position. This is blatant misrepresentation.
P2 received bonus via email after calling Truliant. P1 will be calling within the next month.
Received the $400 by email today. Redeemed it for Amazon and Target egift cards. Simple and easy process.
Truliant itself does not give you the reward, they’re provided from some external vendor. When I called Truliant yesterday to ask about the reward they transferred my to the company that handles the rewards who told me that Truliant had not sent them any information about the account. The CSR said they would send a note to their supervisor about my account. I got a voicemail today saying that they contacted Truliant and I would receive my reward by the end of next week. Will update if/when I get it.
John Titor Did you get it?
Yeah it ended up coming in about a week about I talked to the people who run the gift card service.
Do we need to redeem rewards point to gift card before closing the account? I received the 400 rewards point which can be coverted to gift cards (amazon/walmart/target but unfortunately no Visa/Mastercard / Costco).
Expired
I can’t get through the voice prompts to even talk to someone. Anyone have pro tips on how to contact them?
