Our Verdict
Checking bonus isn’t new, but the $50 savings bonus is. Relatively easy to meet the requirements for this bonus so it’s worth doing. Will add this to our best account bank bonuses.

William Charles,
You have “Maximum bonus amount: $200″ in the post but it’s actually a maximum of $250 if someone does both offers.
Fixed
I just tried to apply from OOS for the Checking & Savings accounts. I went very far through the app and they even verified my identity. I clicked “Continue” on the “Tell us about yourself” screen and below my state it then showed the message “Out of service area”.
The only saving grace is that it doesn’t appear that they pulled my Chex as I didn’t receive an email from OnAlert. Midland and MWB pulled my Chex before the app was even submitted so I was worried that’s what happened here. Of course, I will eventually check to confirm whether or not a Chex inquiry occurred as OA is not completely reliable.
Bedu,
What state did you apply from? I’m wondering if the footprint is larger than what William Charles has in the post since you apparently didn’t receive that message even though you applied from OOS.
Bedu,
I just want to tag you again so I’m sure that you will see my question buried in my longer comment. Unlike several other people, you almost always reply to my direct questions so I doubt that you would intentionally ignore it.
Sorry, I don’t use my main email for here lol. I applied from IL and I didn’t get that message when I applied. IL is closer to those states than where you are so maybe that’s why it worked
Bedu,
I am happy to see that my instinct about you was correct. 😀
You wrote “I don’t use my main email for here”.
Does that mean that you use a backup email that you check occasionally or do use a completely fake (not “fake”) email address like Bockrr and JD?
It’s a backup email that I occasionally check because I don’t like my main email getting cluttered lol
William Charles,
Based on the DPs from Bedu and myself, it seems that UBT does restrict their customer base by state but it is not as restrictive as you show in the post. Where you did get those 4 states from?
Probably where they have branches but can’t remember exactly
Not seeing any DP but wondering if anyone has experience with Fidelity or Marcus Bank as a push DD?
OOS DP:
7/30/24 – applied, pending with lol/3 Chex
8/8/24 – checking account opened with 1k initial deposit
8/16/24 – $2502 discover push
11/8/24 – $150 bonus posted
Bedu,
I noticed that Avi reported successfully getting approved with their Chex frozen in this comment: #1879915 .
Did you apply with your Chex frozen also?
I didn’t try Chex frozen. I already had a lot of inquiries so didn’t bother for this one. I’m starting to get more into freezing Chex though
Did you sign up for the Savings bonus also? If not, why not? It seems like it’s about 16% APY, right?
I didn’t because I had majority of my money tied up so I didn’t have it for this bonus. Also didn’t want to tie the money up for 90 days for $100 bonus
Can you please share how the ACH was coded, like a regular P2P transfer?
Discover push coded as prearrange (discover normally codes as this). If you click on the transaction, it lists as type: deposit
Thank you. My Ally Bank ACH was coded as P2P transfer, looks like it won’t trigger DD
07/20: Account Opened
08/05: $505 Wise DD with “Payroll” Reference
10/22: $100 bonus posted
Successfully got the bonus again for both checking and savings. Even though my intial deposit to savings was much less than 2.5k, I took the risk and added more funds later. It worked out nicely.
2nd time round with UBT
Opened 7/09 – Simply Free Plus and Simply Saving, Opening Deposit of $1k for checking and $2500 for Savings
7/26 – Legit DD
8/9 – Legit DD
8/23 – Legit DD
10/08 – Savings Bonus Post
10/09 – Checking Bonus Post
I know that you have to keep the $2,500 there for the savings, but did you keep the $1k in checking or did you immediately transfer it out?
Successful OOS DP with Chex frozen.
Got a voicemail that they’re gonna open the account right now, but it would be better if I keep my Chex unfrozen “for future bank use”. Don’t really understand the point behind that. Did they mean they’re gonna run through my chex later and potentially close my account later if I don’t unfreeze?
Could be. Are you going to follow up?
Avi,
Did you end up unfreezing your Chex after they told you that? If so, did they pull Chex then? Did you receive the bonus?
Any dps for this bank work? Thanks all
can anyone confirm churn on this? I did the one last year, but the terms state you only have to not have an account for 120 days prior.
Confirmed. I’ve churned it 3 times and recently opened again and was auto approved. P2 just closed about 6 months ago and recently applied and did not get auto approved so waiting for manual review to be completed.
Did any bank besides real dd work? Thanks
I can’t help you there since I always use real DD as it’s easy to change through employer. P2’s account got opened successfully.
