Deal has ended, view more U.S. Mint coin deals by clicking here
There is yet another profitable U.S. Mint coin deal that goes live at 8/19 at 12:00PM ET.
Cost is $2715 and there is a $4.95 shipping charge (or pay more for insured shipping). You should be able to lock in a deal with a coin buyer for a very small profit. Especially with these more expensive coins, we recommend locking in a price with a reputable coin buyer (and don’t just blindly trust the comments as there always seems to be some level of astroturfing going on). Others prefer to take a risk and see what the coins resale for at a later date. You can see what credit cards code as a cash advance and the best cards to use in this dedicated post. Main advantage of this coin is the high amount of credit card spend.
ALIVE AGAIN
This coin is once again available for order (backorder), now featuring no household order limit. On top of that, the price has dropped by $50 to $2665!
If you’ve got this coin on back order, I don’t know if the US Mint will price adjust an existing order, but you can always place a new order (which will go on back order), then cancel the old order. As an added bonus, if the new order ends up being your 3rd (or higher) US Mint order this year (including any cancelled orders), you should get offered FREE S&H (saving another $4.95). 😉
I made more than 3 orders this year, yet no free shipping. How do you get it?
Were your 3 orders placed under the same user account? (Not sure if the US Mint permits guest checkouts). Their web-site offered it to me automatically, I believe starting on my 4th order (actually, it may have been offered on my 3rd order). There is no specific action I had to take other than to login and place orders under my existing user account.
you need to be subscribed to their promo emails along with 3 orders shipped and it will trigger automatically
Thanks, but there’s no secondary buyers for this.
Will PFS deliver on their POs? Or make everyone cancel their orders?
Correct, Pinehurst is canceling unfulfilled POs.
right just got an email from pinehurst cancelling the PO
I got the email, but I already shipped my coin out. I emailed Pinehurst back, and they said they will still honor the purchase order (at least in my case). They just said ship it out as soon as possible (mine was just delivered to them today). So, if you have already received your coin from the Mint, email Pinehurst first, and they should still honor your purchase order, provided you ship your coin out quickly. If your coin is still back ordered, perhaps they will ask you to cancel your order, I’m not sure.
Is anybody still waiting for their order to ship? Mine is still in “Processing”, I was hopeful when people said theirs shipped last week but mine looks like it’s stuck.
2 orders, 1 shipped on 25th, the other still processing
Just shipped today, although my card hasn’t been charged, oddly enough
Is anyone buying 21EK this Thursday?
Why wait? You can still buy the palladium proof coin from 2019. Mintage was 30K then, it seems they lowered it to 12K this time because no one wants this coin.
I think pfs was buying the 2020 palladium coin at a $50 profit?
Only collectors are buying 21EK
Any groups still buying?
Anyone have suggestions/advice for shipping?
First time selling to pinehurst vs PFS, so knew to the ship via own methods.
Is it worth taking the $60 pinehurst label, or is there a cheaper option that has full insurance coverage?
try usps first class registered with insurance
Anyone’s coin got shipped yet?
I was wondering the same. Still “Processing”
Also “processing”. Very frustrating that they haven’t given any timetable for shipment
Update: mine just shipped
Was yours budget shipping?
Budget Shipping and shipped this afternoon
I hope they ship mine fast as well. Pinehurst has a 14-day policy of buying the coin from the date of the contract.
how can we find local buyers for this coin
Call the local dealers and enquire if they have any interest in it. Any particular reason you are looking for local buyers ?
Are there buyers still looking (non-local)? Might be the next choice if no one else is buying to reach out to the local dealers just in case
Anyone besides pinehurst buying these? They couldn’t do PO for me, original account e-mail didn’t match from sending account. After changing account e-mail they were no longer buying them. Will probably just have to cancel
I sent a note to pinehurst at 12.20 ( way before their cut-off time ) and somehow they missed me and responded 5 hrs later that they aren’t buying it anymore.
Drop a note to minshull and check if they are still buying it.
Thanks just e-mailed them, were you able to get a PO/agreement from them?
Waiting for them to send it out – most likely will get it tomorrow morning
I emailed Pinehurst at 1:49 and they sent me the PO. Strange.
i got the PO this afternoon. Ha ha – somehow I get missed out everywhere – pinehurst missed me even though I was more than an hour before their deadline and now I waited a day with MH. But all is well that seems to be ending well.
For next time, how do I receive these offers from Pinehurst?

I get people jumping on $85 coins expecting $100 profit, but not sure I see buying a $2715 coin expecting $100 profit to be as great of a deal. If you lock in the $100 and have credit card rewards great, but you still have to subtract out shipping costs and taxes on the profits. I guess if you have some free time and $2715 of capital/credit that you do not mind tying up for a while.
Its mainly about the credit card rewards, or to help meet a spending requirement for a new credit card bonus. For me to use the Citi double cash card and earn about 5400 citi thankyou points that helps me reach my goal for booking business class tickets to Asia makes it worthwhile to get the free spend, besides having to otherwise pay fees to generate points such as using Plastiq to pay mortgage or prepaying federal taxes by credit card.
I get it if you have some sort of credit card spending requirements you are trying to meet, otherwise I was just pointing out that the allure of this deal drops significantly compared to other deals with much larger margins per unit spending. The main buyer mentioned in this thread seems to have already stopped buying these coins and people are cancelling orders. From my experience, there is lots of hype for these coins on release date but demand then falls off a cliff, so $100 offer above $2715 spending was just a red flag for me when other deals were offering $100 offers above $85 spending.
Total time is like 30 minutes max for $100 profit after tax. I’ll take a $200/hr post-tax rate.
If you are able to lock in the coin purchase, lock in the payout contract from buyer, package and ship the coin to the buyer, and pay your tax on the profits and net $100 and spend 30 minutes, then great. My point was just that having to pay $2715 out of pocket for $100 return is not as lucrative as the other coin deals. As I said, if you have $2715 of capital/credit that you do not mind tying up for a while and want to spend a bit of time to try and get $100 out of it, go for it.
If you need to hit a sign up bonus or three, then $50 profit on a $5000 purchase is potentially more exciting than $100 profit on an $85 purchase.
Definitely. I have one year to complete a $20K minimum spend on a high bonus credit card. I’ve spent about $5K on coins in the past month. The higher the cost of the coin, the better, regardless of the profit.
If you are selling to a coin dealer/buying group you literally have the cash to pay off the credit card before its due. No capital is being tied up. I’ll have this one to my buyer by end of next week and i should have a check in hand by labor day, long before any payment is due. If you are saying that 2700 or 5400 is basically maxing out your credit card, then yeah i agree its probably not worth your time or should ask for a higher limit if possible.
The credit is not being tied up. The Mint doesn’t bill you until they ship it. I am mainly doing these orders to meet the minimum spend for a bonus on a credit card. I’ve also never had to pay taxes on these sales.
If you are selling for more than you purchased for, you should be reporting this as income. If you don’t this would technically be classified as tax evasion, which is illegal.
Just because you do not get a tax form, does not mean it’s not a taxable event.
