In January Avianca announced that the lifemiles systems would be receiving an upgrade and would be unusable from February 1st until February 5th. The new website is now live and they have added some additional features that should be useful. Features include:
- Route monitoring (basically a watch list for routes your interested in)
- Can now access all Star Alliance space as other programs (e.g South African Airways & SAS)
It seems like everything isn’t working 100% currently though, with reports of not seats showing as available on one way bookings and other error messages when trying to complete a booking. Personally I’m not a big fan of the new style, there is a lot of dead space and it seems to load slower than the old site but technically it’s not supposed to be live until tomorrow so I wonder if upgrades are still being made on that front.

I prefer the new award booking platform, actually. For me, it’s an improvement…
Did their web designer get paid by the square yard or something? You have to scroll all over the place to enter and view info. I assume this was yet another redesign supposedly optimized for tablets, to the detriment of everything else?
lol
There’s no way to cancel an award booking online, correct?
The “miles expiration date” is no longer shown on the website, unfortunately.
My last mile-earning activity was posted before Feb 2018, when the old 48-month expiration rule applied. However, the new website shows neither activity history prior to Feb 2018 nor the miles expiration date. As a result, there is no way for me to track when my miles will expire.
Significantly worse, unfortunately.
