New BP Credit Cards From Synchrony Will Launch May 18th

Update: The new cards have now launched, you can read our full review here.

In case you didn’t already know, Chase is no longer the co branded card issuer for the BP credit card, Synchrony is now in charge of this portfolio. So far Synchrony and BP have not done a great job at explaining this change to cardholders with a lot of people reporting that they’ve been unable to pay their card statement, Chase won’t accept the payment and they can’t log into Synchrony to pay with their current details either.

We also haven’t known what the new cards will look like (both in terms of physical appearance and rewards structure). All of this will become clearer on May 18th, which is when the new cards will officially be relaunched according to the BP website.

Hopefully current cardholders will be rewarded for a botched transition with a card that earns at a decent rate on gas purchases, although I doubt the card will be competitive in comparison to the best gas credit cards.

Well, I have tried a couple of times to call in and activate this new card and somehow I’m not recognized. I also went online and my birthday was invalid. After reading these posts, I have decided to not pursue this any further…bye bye bp

I am trying to go back in history for an amount . I am told I would have to wait five days. Before on Bp card you could put in the date and see your transactions in the past months.

I too am totally discussed with the new company. I did a bank bill pay the other day & had my bill paid on
7-9-15 using their old address. Today I got my bill in the mail with the new payment address on it. I called the new company & told them about this. They said that BP might forward the payment to them or send it back to me. She then told me to do a “stop payment” and I told her that would cost me $40 for a stop payment, not an option for me. She than stated that I could “wait to see what happens” and that I might
get a late fee plus interest that may be waived if I call them & explain what happened AGAIN!!!
Like I have nothing better to do. I then told her that once everything is done right I will cancel my BP card.
Can’t believe all the difficulty involved in trying to pay a bill.

And here I thought it was myself having the same problems as the rest of you worrying about late fees, not recognizing my birthday, or my other information to set up this new Synchrony card. Why didn’t Chase and Synchrony get these BP cards straightened out before we got stuck into this mess? We have read all the information, but we are all lost and confused as to how we login and pay our bill. For 25 years under BP Chase we were happy campers. Now we are frustrated by it all! Please get this all straightened out as I see here people just want to drop this new card due to poor communication. Our family has different numbers on our cards! Do we have to try to figure out how to register these cards and hope we can pay them and hopefully not be getting any service fees? Please help us all here. We long time users of the Chase BP card are absolutely lost. Don’t mess up our credit due to these problems especially rejecting any payments because it doesn’t accept our information including our birthdates, user names, passwords, and secret questions with answers.

STILL haven’t received my new card yet to register my account since the Chase crossover began. Got another letter from Synchrony two weeks ago saying it would take another 60 days. Total disaster.

What a mess. I’ve had a chase bp card for years and all I had to do was click on the bill pay site on favorites. I came up with account info. Click on pay my bill whatever I wanted to pay and it was done!
I’ve tried to register the last 2 nights with this outfit and keep getting error messages, called the number and got run around from a machine-nobody to talk to. I mailed a payment because I can’t figure out how to register for online service. I wish BP would have done all this for us to make it easier to remain their customer. You get so much garbage on his site I have no Idea what to do. Apparently BP no longer wants any customers.

I received a letter in May, 2015 saying I would receive a new BP Gas Card (Synchrony) soon. Today is June 30th and have received nothing. Although, it seems my old card still works. Please let me know what the problem is….(personal data removed).

Glad to read the above comments! I can’t register because my birth date is invalid. Wish my parents were still here – maybe they should be aware. Thanks, Synchrony, for taking a card that has served me well for many years and screwing it up. Oh, well! There are lots of other cards available!l

We got a letter saying we were getting bp cards instead of our Phillips/Conoco cards. That we were suppossed to tear up our Phillips cards when we got the new bp cards. We got the new cards and tore up our Phillips cards We do not have bp stations in Eldon, Mo. and Phillips stations won’t take the new bp cards.
