Original post: On Monday February 25th, 2019 IHG will release a new PointsBreaks list. IHG members will be able to book select properties for 5,000, 10,000 or 15,000 points per night. So far no sample list has been provided.  Previously all PointsBreaks properties cost 5,000 points per night but two lists ago they introduced other properties costing 10,000 and 15,000 points per night. Fingers crossed for some good properties this time.

So… all the 15K properties are different now just as I go to book in Pattaya?? That happened quick.

Some of the point breaks hotels listed don’t have availability when searched for a family of 3 to 4, but shows for 2 guests.

Probably because the only rewards rooms available are the single bed ones. This is not uncommon.

Maybe it’s time for IHG to end this promo. Their heart is obviously not into it any more. I thought that they might save the promo by going up to 15K and adding more properties but nope — it’s still going downhill. Sure, maybe you can pick up an airport hotel if you’re in the right place at the right time. But overall, the list causes a lot more unhappiness than it generates excitement. Sad.

How do I get my money back from IHG for all the points I bought?

Lake Havasu during Spring Break season isn’t bad, and the Santa Ana HIX is a short drive or Lyft ride away from Disneyland, Anaheim Stadium, and the Honda Center. The MSP Intecontinental, as mentioned, is right at the airport and the Seattle Staybridge is right in the heart of downtown. I would have liked to see more US properties, of course.

Ugh. No real surprise as to how bad this has gotten. It was fun while it lasted. I’m not even sure why they do this anymore.

Seriously, I just checked the list and it’s such a joke. It stopped being reportable when they added 10k & 15k tiers.
