Update 3/6/23: It appears transferring is now working.
You can now exchange points between Radisson Rewards America and Choice Privileges at a 2:1 exchange rate. Two Radisson Rewards Americas points can be transferred to become one Choice Privileges point, and one Choice Privileges point can be transferred to become two Radisson Rewards Americas points.
This can also be an option for Citi ThankYou Premier cardholders to redeem each ThankYou point to ultimately become 4 Radisson Rewards Americas points.
Hat tip to bestbet33 and jaycis
The 1:4 transfer from Citi is intriguing. But it’s hard to find hotels where the value would be substantially higher than the 1cpp available through the Citi portal
I tried to bail when Radisson had a 50% transfer bonus to United. Their site didn’t work. They promised they’d do it manually…..hahahahaha. They got me. These “IT errors” seem to always work in their favor.
Still PERMISSION_DENIED over here.
I figured it out.
It was actually unable to link Choice with Points.com properly, even though Choice’s website seemed to indicate they were linked. I figured out it was tied to my email address, and changing it fixed the issue. I’m not sure if it was simply changing the email at all, or if I was changing it to one that I had previously used when establishing the connection (I can’t remember if I’ve ever used another email with Choice in the past).
Anyway, it worked.
I also tried calling Choice, but they’re all idiots. Kept trying to get me to call Radisson and/or offering other stupid suggestions, such as account settings that don’t exist (“… on the Radisson website, go to settings and set your account to “open”).
Is Radisson still allowing transfers from Europe to Americas? Or Vice-versa?
Came to ask this
Are there any hotels accepting points in Radisson EMEA? I’ve been looking and can’t find a single hotel with any award availability, even months out from now.
now yes, after the conversion, no. Europe just devalued by 2/3s. worthless.
Permission_Denied when linking the two accounts. Was told it’s an ongoing issue waiting to be fixed.
I see a bias to transfer Radisson to Choice at that transfer. I’ll hold off any transfers for now though as those 15,000 point Radissons near airports are often good deals.
What DoC didn’t mention above, but what was announced at the same time, is that the merger of the programs will soon happen, and at that point your points will be automatically transferred at the exact same rate, as the two programs become one. So it’s not clear how long you can hold off.
Details about how the combined programs will work in other ways (such as how far in advance you can book with points, elite status, etc) have not been announced yet.
I can finally book the hotel where I spent my wedding night using these useless orphaned Radisson points! Sometimes dreams DO come true… bring on the Comfort Inn & Suites!
I’m curious which property you mean. Thanks
he said it’s the comfort inn and suites
I thought he meant Business Garden Inn & Suites & Hotel Room Inn. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hvVhKHqlgI
obviously another bride attracted to fine living.
anyone knows if the transfer / exchange will be considered as eligible activity and extend the expiration of the points on either account?
What about redeeming thank you points over to Choice account, will that extend the 18 month clock?
Thanks in advance.
I transferred Radisson to Choice, it did extend my Choice expiration
Tried to register my Radisson account with Choice to transfer points… and got an error message. Called support and they told me that it actually isn’t possible to transfer points yet. Well, whoops.
Transfer from Radisson to choice worked for me after linking the two programs together.
Keep getting this error, when trying to register Radisson Americas to exchange with Choice:
THERE WAS A PROBLEM!
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Please try again later.
Please contact our Choice Privileges Customer Support for assistance.
I am trying to avoid having my wife call customer support. Thanks for any help.
Update: needed the phone numbers to match on the accounts, then it worked.
