Our Verdict
Not as good as the last $500 bonus. Although the direct deposit requirement is lower for the $400 tier. In any case a lot of people try to cycle these santander bonuses so if you’re eligible it’s probably worth just taking this bonus as I doubt we will see anything better in the short term.We will add this to our list of the best bank account bonuses. Denied online, I guess chex? It said I could try to open in person
Opened 2024-09-29 (Sunday), next business day was the 30th, funded $25 from BoA on 2024-10-03. ACH from PNC for $2000 and $3000 between 11/27 and 12/26. It is now 2025-01-28, and no bonus received. While it was tight, I was within the 90 days no matter how you count, so I’d call this a datapoint against ACH from PNC working.
Pushed $150 from U.S. Bank as what the USBank website calls “ACH payments Pay vendors, employees or contractors securely.” This is different from “external transfer” in that the accounts don’t permanently link, and there’s a $1 fee. It posted to Santander as “DIG ACH” not as DD
Fidelity giving us issues linking P2. I keep getting the message that the registrations don’t match. They are identical.
Last week I went thru Santander to establish an ACH relationship with Fidelity and today I was able to go thru Fidelity to link with Santander so I can now do a push into my new account.
P2 insta approved last night when applying for the $400 version with the “show promo code” and then attaching that promo code to the application link.
A side note: Me and P2 for the past 2 to 3 churns have never been successful with opening online. Santander always made a fuss about identification not verified or something and always told us to stop in the branch.
This time, it was online approved. I’ll also post a DP on if mine goes just as smooth within a week.
Have you ever tried stopping in branch? P2 was insta approved online, but online banking is blocked, apparently because the online account was associated with a previous (now closed) checking account.
I should have asked on the phone with the rep, but what do they check when you stop in, just show driver’s license?
I have to say I really like Santander. They’re the nicest bankers I’ve dealt with by far, and I’ve gone into a bunch of bank branches for bonuses. They’re always smiling and eager to get me the bonus I’m asking for.
If Bank of America didn’t offer its fantastic reward tiers, I would probably use it as my legitimate bank.
Received bonus today 1/14 ($400)
Open date 10/13
Work DDs over November + December
do the $5k need to stay in the account the entire 90 days to be eligible for the bonus?
No
Santander sent me a $400 bonus mailer with a code even though I just closed an account in May , is there any chance they wouldn’t enforce their 12 month rule ?
They’ll enforce it. See my DP here: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/nh-ma-ri-ct-de-ny-nj-pa-or-fl-in-branch-santander-400-checking-bonus/#comment-1708878
its been 120 days, i didn’t get it, met $5k deposit terms from FCMA, bofa, and citizens.
they did give me the $500 for the business checking though.
wondering what’s up. maybe you cant get both?
Did you ever get it?
