Is the suburban transit also included? And if you go to NY and take a NJTransit bus from port authority, is that free?

Only NJ Transit is free, not buses that accept NJ transit tickets. All NJ Transit buses and trains are free except the airtrain at Newark Airport.

Nice. Free is free. I appreciate this.

All you curmudgeons need to ‘mind your own damn business’. You probably aren’t even in NJ/NY/PA. And if you are, and you wanna still pay for tickets, that’s on you, losers.

I left the area 10 years ago, and ticket prices were pretty ridiculous. Thanks for the freebie, but seriously, they need to have all their fares across the board.

These stunts are always timed to coincide with election season.

With this, you could technically travel from NY to Philly for free. A conductor also confirmed with me that Port Jervis line operated by Metro North is also free.

People here are so negative. Last week of August is the lowest ridership period anyways.

Thats the point some folks are making. It is good for some but not good for the overall system as you can see from the recent fare increases and other negative changes and outages. Only $cumbag polticians come up with stupid bs

I dont even know what to say about this stunt, way beyond stupid.
Benefits some folks and screws some other folks, all for some publicity for a corrupt politician and in the end everyone pays for it.

Gotta buy vote after putting in 15% rates 3% increase in perpetuity and expiring everyone’s tickets

The wording of the tweet is terrible. It’s not a thank-you to the customers. If anything it’s an apology. It’s because the NJ transit has had so many issues and delays and cancelations this summer that I have witnessed people straight-out refusing to purchase / show their tickets to the conductor. These are what you’d call “well-off” daily commuters to Wall Street.

Cities across the US have done things like this in the past.
Statistics show that crime and violence increases due to these types of “free rides”.
If that is your cup of tea, to each his own!
