- Bank of Greene County is offering a $250 checking bonus when you complete the following requirements:
- $25,000 minimum deposit
- Add direct deposit
- Use debit card three times
The Fine Print
- To receive $250 bonus offer owner must open the account with a minimum deposit of $25,000, add direct deposit and use the Bank of Greene County Visa® Debit Card three times.
- Check will be issued within 90 days once all conditions have been met.
- Limit one offer per household.
- Value of bonus will be reported to the Internal Revenue Service as income on Form 1099.
- Bank may discontinue this offer at any time without notice.
- Account must be opened at our Kinderhook-Valatie branch.

Our Verdict
Doesn’t look like the $25,000 needs to be kept in there for any period of time, but not everybody has $25,000 in liquid funds. Looks like it needs to be done in branch so you should be able to ask if it’s a hard or soft pull in branch before opening.

There’s a new $300 total bonus for their e-Lightning account listed on their current rates page. Does require 12 mo of direct deposits for the full 300, but there’s no specified amount. Oddly, according to this flyer (linked under “Learn more”) they say there’s a limit of 2 accounts per person, with no “one offer per person” language. William Charles Chuck
Applications are “welcome[d from] residents of Greene, Columbia, Ulster and Albany counties in New York State.” Their geofencing was unwelcoming of my MA zip code, and also enforced.
