Early Account Termination Fee
$25 if closed within six months
Our Verdict
Previously they offered a $250 personal checking bonus. This $500 deal is insane, assuming it’s a soft pull to open. It’ll be interesting to see what sort of business documents they require to sign up (according to the reader who sent this in they do require a DBA certificate. You can get one at the Albancy County Court house for $25). If anybody goes for this deal, please share your experiences in the comments below. It will almost certainly be added to our best checking bonuses once we have more information.

Sadly this is no longer valid. I actually need a business account and just moved to the area, but called and she said they have no special deals going on right now. I’m hoping they’ll bring it back! I’ll keep my eyes here for an update, since I don’t go into the branch since I don’t have an account there (yet)!
Update here:
Initial deposit posted on 10/16/18.
$500 bonus posted on 10/22/18.
Sweet.
The deal ends this a Saturday according the the manager at a local branch.
Does anyone know whether they will accept out-of-state licenses (like, oh, say, Massachusetts 🙂 ) for this promotion?
I’m the original referrer, so here’s some additional information:
1) Requires $100 minimum deposit payable by check or cash only. (the $100 min. deposit is listed on the website)
2) No online application. In-branch only. Plan on spending an hour to get the app completed. (not sure why but they’re real slow–LOL)
3) Requires a CERTIFIED DBA (certified copy). $25 is the DBA fee at the Albany Count Court House. $5 for a certified copy. $30 total.
4) No hard pull (at least I’ve not gotten a hit from any of the 3 bureaus). I’m not sure if it’s Chex sensitive or not.
5) Online banking requires they set you up in branch and you wait 3-5 days for 2 pieces of mail before you can login.
Still, small price to pay for $500 bonus.
I was about to go over to find out more until I realized its a 3 and a half hour drive from NYC and its actually closer for someone coming from Montreal…
Maybe Kinderhook? 2hrs, 21 min from downtown Manhattan, according to my GPS.
Yeah, then (s)he can go to Hudson (a once proud center of bootlegging & prostitution) and overpay for the schlock they are flinging at nycidiots.
Used to live in Columbia County, now I live across the country 🙁
