Buy a $200 Visa gift card and a $100 Visa gift card or buy two $200 Visa gift cards. The best way to maximize is to buy three $200 Visa gift cards. It should be possible to get more than one $15 discount in a single checkout.
Fees are $5-$8 per card, but can be more-than-offset by this $15 instant discount. They usually offer a deal the week following Staples.
Use a card like the INK Cash/Plus which earns 5x at office supply stores. Also note, Dosh offers 2% back at Office Depot/Max and Rakuten in-store offers 5x/5%, though the terms on these exclude gift cards from earning. Some people might have a Chase Offer/Bank Amerideals for Office Depot as well.

It seems to be harder and harder to find ways to use your these prepaid cards. Anyone have ways to turn them back to cash? To use them the only ways I know that’s easy is Amazon, utilities. But there’s only so much Amazon and utility I can buy 😉

Bought 3 $200 VGCs today. Price came out to $593.85. Stacked with Chase Offer for 10% off $110 Office Depot and 5x with Chase Ink Plus.
WF has a 10% offer for dc or cc. Up to $11 off. Can be used in-store.
Anybody get declined when using these cards for the last 2 days? I have used these for the last couple of years to pay for various stuff with no problem. I do make sure I have enough balance to cover but still declined everywhere now.
I have this issue as well.
I bought 3×200
after sale was over, cashier stopped and refunded me 1×200 saying one card didn’t load.
so I went home with 2×100.
i drained one of the cards, and the other card is declining.
I called the number on the back of the card and the automated system is saying to return to the original store to request a refund. 🙁
So cashier either got the bad giftcard switched up, (hopefully not), or the system didn’t issue me a refund for the second 200 card.
heading to the store tomorrow. 🙁 this is going to be a mouthful to explain.
You two are talking about two completely different things. For your problem, always check the receipt to see the cards activated are the cards in your hand while you are still standing in front of the cashier. I have never had issues but it only takes 10 seconds to check.
Double check the card package agains the OD receipt. Also call the # on the back of the card to check the available balance. Good luck!
update. Office depot has no idea what is going on. I have all the receipts. Receipt says the card in question will be activated in 24 hrs, but its been a week at this point. OD made a copy of the GC in question and sent in a ticket to black hawk I’m still waiting. Apparently I’m the first lucky customer to go through this ordeal. 🙁
I had the same issue with one of the master card that I no longer had receipt! I think Blackhawk system must have been the issue.
No, you are not the first. Back in the beginning of the year it happened to me twice in a week (I posted it here as well). And it took almost 3 months to get my money back from OD.
What did you have to do?

Oh sorry I posted on the OD MasterCard board. Basically I have to copy everything (cards and receipts) and gave to the store manager to email to their corporate.. then just play waiting game and waiting for them to respond. After several months eventually they approved the refund, and the store took back all the physical cards from me and gave me the cash from their petty cash fund.

The net of what I paid for each card, so yes, I lost the savings for each card.
I total had 4 cards that had problems so took me several trips to get all the cash, because the store had very low amount of daily cash sales. It’s kinda of ridiculous that they said it’s their only way to get cash.
One would think a large corp like OD would be more organized??? The lesson here: always save the receipts until the VGC or MGC are liquidated.

Final Update: OD had called back telling me to come in. they activated another gc for me. took about 3 weeks to fix.

Just check out a the register with $300+ in VGCs. After they total out for your to pay, discount will come off the total. Confirm on cc machine before swiping.
