The Offer
- Cincinnati is offering a bonus of up to $300 when you open a new checking account. You’ll receive a bonus of $50 each month for your first six months when you meet the following requirements:
- You’re enrolled in eStatements
- You maintain an average balance of $200
- You have 10 debit card transactions post to the account
The Fine Print
- Minimum of $50 required to open account.
- A $50 bonus will be credited to your account at the end of each month, for the first 6 months your account is open, when that account 1)was enrolled in eStatements, 2) maintained an average balance greater than $200,and 3) had 10 Debit Card transactions post to the account in that month.
- Offer available to clients who have not had ownership rights on a checking account with Cincinnati Federal in the last 12months.
- Offer available only to individual and joint accounts. Limit one per qualifying account.
- Limit one per individual.
- Accounts closed at the time of gift fulfillment are not eligible.
- If account is closed due to overdrafts within the next 12 months, gift will be revoked and included in any charge off amount.
- If account is closed within the next 6 months, gift will be revoked and deducted from the closeout amount.
- Offer not available on interest bearing accounts.
- Fees may reduce earnings.
- Offer valid as of 06/01/18.
Avoiding Fees
None of the three accounts that qualify for this bonus have any monthly fees to worry about. You need to keep the account open for six months otherwise bonus is forfeit, but you’d want to do that anyway to get the full bonus. If the account is closed due to overdrafts within 12 months, you do forfeit the bonus though.
Our Verdict
Really nice bonus, especially considering a direct deposit isn’t required at all. Previously they had a bonus of $250, but that did require a direct deposit. The only downside is that you have to meet the requirements for six months, thankfully the requirements are pretty easy to meet. If you’re struggling with meeting the debit card transaction requirement then read this post for some tips. We will be adding this to our list of the best checking account bonuses.

I tried going to the website and calling. This promotion is long over. Can you remove from the site? This is not helpful.
Anyone get a monthly bonus yet? I opened in July and met the requirement for the month but still no bonus.
opened the account in October and received the bonus the same month.
FYI – Got this response when I tried to open the account online: “We received your request to open a new account with us and though we appreciate your interest, unfortunately we are going to have to deny this online request. In order to earn the promotion we require the account to be opened at one of our branches.”
Clearly goes against what the bonus page says, which I told them, but obviously don’t really have any recourse based on how manual the account opening process is. Might just have to go in to the bank to open it.
Strange. The page at https://www.cincinnatifederal.com/deposit-landing-page.aspx clearly says “1) Come in or click here to open your new Promotional Checking Account. – Be sure to mention that you want to earn the bonus!” –
The click here link takes you to their new account intake form
– https://www.cincinnatifederal.com/New-Accounts.aspx
This is very rudimentary form where you only submit your name and address. You will get an e-mail asking for more info, if you check ‘e-mail’.
Does anyone know if you have to enter a promo code or something? I dont see an application button on the actual bonus page that is linked to above, so as far as i can tell you leave that page to the normal sign-up page to apply for the account.
Doesn’t look like there is a way to actually apply online.
Once you click on Open an Account Today, it takes you to a form:
“Fill out this page with your info and tell us what you’re interested in. We’ll have someone contact you no later than the next business day”.
I drive by one of their branches every day, but I am setting up my account with them via email…seems to be working so far. Started the process last evening.
I opened an account with the $250 bonus they had. Did everything online (sent copy of drivers license if I remember correctly). They used secure e-mail (Zixmail). Keep in mind the messages sent/received via that expire in a month.
BTW: Had to explicitly request the bonus. Their answer was they were giving the bonus only if you had mentioned it during the application process, but applied it right away.
Overall a good experience. No issues.
Opened an account online for this bonus last week. Filled out the info form online and someone emailed me forms to fill out and email back – disclosures, contact form and copy of DL. Account opened and ready to go, just waiting on debit card to arrive. P2 got the $250 bonus and opened it online as well.
Are you in one of the states with branches?
I’m in Northern KY, the closest branch is in Cincinnati about 20 minutes away.
Does your state have branches?
No
AllwaysLearning22
Does your state have branches?
Yes, I live within 20 minutes of a branch, but have not set foot into one. Everything done online.
I dont see when it ends. anyone knows?
No date listed unfortunately
I live in Louisville, but said I go to church in one of the Ky counties listed. They called me to verify, but I never followed through. Might be an opportunity to fudge that info if near these areas, but you’ll hav to talk with a human first
Awesome. Life got busy when they offered the $250 bonus and I kept putting it off. Looks like procrastination will pay off!
