The Offer
- Kirkpatrick Bank is offering a $300 bonus when you open a new checking account and complete the following one of the following two requirements within 90 days:
- Have your direct deposits totaling $500 or more made to this account
- Complete 30 debit card purchase transactions with your new Kirkpatrick Bank debit card
The Fine Print
- Offer not available to existing Kirkpatrick Bank checking customers or those whose accounts have been closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance within the last three years.
- The promo ends on 10/31/2024 and your checking account must be opened by then to be eligible for bonus offer.
- To receive the bonus, open a new Kirkpatrick Bank checking account, which is subject to approval, and complete one of the two qualifying events within 90 days of account opening date:
- 1) Have your direct deposits totaling $500 or more made to this account. Your direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension, or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government. Person-to-person payments (such as Zelle®) are not considered a direct deposit. Micro-deposits do not qualify as a direct deposit for the bonus. Micro-deposits are small deposits, typically less than $1, that are sent to your account to verify it is the correct account; OR
- 2) Complete 30 debit card purchase transactions with your new Kirkpatrick Bank debit card. Multiple swipes for the same purchase amount or at the same merchant in succession do not qualify for eligible debit card purchase transactions.
- Once you have completed one of above requirements, we’ll deposit the bonus in your new account within 15 days.
- To receive this bonus, the enrolled account must be open and in good standing at the time of payout.
- There is no minimum balance to obtain the bonus.
- The minimum opening balance is $50.
- Bonus offer is limited to one per household.
- Eligibility may be limited based on account ownership.
- Must be age 18 or older.
- Bonus is considered interest and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-INT. Information is accurate as of 8/01/24 and may change without notice.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
This account has no monthly fees to worry about.
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so unsure if there is any EATF.
Our Verdict
Always nice to see such a large bonus with no direct deposit requirement. If you go for it then please share your experiences in the comments below.

Applied Saturday (9/14) and went pending. Got an approval email to day (9/17) and two other emails to access general info. I had to call in to get the account number. My credit card has not had any pending charge for funding. Weird.
Applied on Saturday 9/14 still pending
Approved, waiting for micro deposits to verifiy the account I used to fund with. Does not appear Chex sensitive
same… I chose to fund with credit card and no mention so far. I had to call in to get the account number.
Got an email that I was approved…made the $50 minimum deposit through bank transfer routing and account #…will update when I have more time.
Same as poster below, my app went pending. No response as of Monday past noon.
My app went pending. The funding screen says you can use a debit/credit card to fund but does not list a maximum amount. I tried doing $5k with Citi DC.
Would love to hear an update from you.
Did it post as a purchase?
The app is still pending so nothing hit my card yet. I’m assuming if it’s approved they will trigger the funding and I’ll know then.
Did they check Chex?
I saw in the app that they warned using CC may result in a cash advance fee. I generally don’t risk it if I see that language. Been burned too many times with the cash advance fees thinking I’m going to earn a few bucks on a 2% credit card.
30 debit card transactions? LOL
I used to have a “Savings Square” Savings account with Kirkpatrick MANY years ago. That is their online product for OOS people.
I clicked on “Other” and it brought me to that account so it seems like us OOS people may be out of luck with no OOS Checking option.
I attempted to apply out of state (you can select Oklahoma, Colorado or Other to proceed from the landing page). I went though identity verification and it only allowed me to select a savings account to open, not any checking account. I ended up stopping the process at the review page right before submitting the application.
