Avoiding Fees
This account has no monthly fees, but there is a $3 fee if you receive paper statements. According to the fee schedule there is no early account termination fee as well.
Our Verdict
It’s a shame opening an account is so restricted as this would be a really easy bonus to get. Given that you need to donate $25 to join this bonus is really only $75 and not worth doing in my opinion (keep in mind you’ll be paying taxes on $100 as well). If anybody decides to go for it or finds an easier way to join please share it in the comments. I won’t be adding this to the best checking sign up bonus page for now. Update: Not worth opening due to the hard pull.

“Highly select areas.” Redline much?
Hard pull is a hard no. Soft pulls are fine, but I don’t waste hard pulls to open accounts for my own money.
William Charles Link is bad. New link: https://truitycu.org/checking
Accounts have changed names. Most basic account now called Essential checking, has $3.00 monthly fee, waived with 5+ debits/mo. $3 paper statement fee.
Membership available to those who work (or have a family member who works) for a bunch of companies, including several major employers, such as Phillips 66, Hy-Vee grocery stores, AT&T, Sprint (guess they haven’t updated their description yet to T-Mobile), students at KU, CocaCola, Conoco. It’s a pretty big list. https://truitycu.org/join#WhoCanJoin
Did application, got the “we’ll let you know in a day or two” notice. Pulled TransUnion. Upon initial application it said finding via credit, debit or ACH transfer but wasn’t given any funding option until account approved so I guess I’ll find out next week
They not only list Sprint but also Radio Shack.
Radio Shack is still alive, like many before bankruptcy was not the end of its road
Truity, Truist… what horrible focus group made the banks think we would like these names? Here are some more we could do, just for fun:
Trudacity
Truvalence
Trufinity
Tru Fi
Ugh!
DON’T GIVE THEM ANY IDEAS!
…at least not without charging them.
“You can’t handle the Trudelity!”
Forgot Truliant FCU which exists already
